Late to the New Year’s Party
I’m at the point where I’m actually tired of hearing myself talk about how much time flies so I’m not starting this post off with that! We’ve been so busy with the start of this year already, however, what I have realized is that we are at a stage of life where we have strived to build in margin so that every single moment we have is not so strictly scheduled that we can’t be there when our people need us. And we are blessed to have people who have needed us lately!
Most of the time, those people are our kids and now our kids’ kids! And the arrival of our third grandchild has had our hands joyfully full some of those times lately! Just after Thanksgiving, David Jude was born, named after my husband, which is something so sweet I can’t describe. He is an absolute cutie pie and growing more every day. He is the most smiley baby, and I am convinced he is crazy about me too since he tries to talk to me every time I hold him.
Juliet and Rosie both turned two in December, and they can say lots of words but the sweetest to me is when they say “Hi, Honey!” They keep us laughing on a daily basis and it’s only getting better from here! We have also been busy with our church family, working on projects and conferences with different ministries, and then getting completely snowed in for over a week here in East TN.
And in between all that, we’ve even had to make time for loss, grieving with friends so close to us as they had to let go of their mom. So much can happen in the span of just weeks, as I know many of you have learned throughout your own lives.
And even more can happen in a year, as we saw last year with the addition of our littlest family member, the loss of our little Scout, the purchase of two Airbnb’s and so much more we had not planned this time last year. I am looking forward to seeing what projects and adventures 2024 will hold for me and for you! Let’s try to remind ourselves to leave time in between the busyness for the most important things. I’m ready.
