Piano Room DIYs and Thrifted Finds
Our Piano Room is full of stories. Not only those of our family and friends whom we’ve spent countless hours with us in here through the years, but the furniture and fixtures themselves have stories they have brought with them from other places and they bring lots of personality to this room!
When I first started this blog shortly after we moved into this house, I began to furnish it with lots of random finds, DIYs, and thrifted pieces. Over the years, most of those pieces throughout the house have been replaced or passed on to other people, but this room has held onto the most original pieces we found for it and they are the hardest for me to think about letting go! Because so many of us change our decor with the shifting trends, I thought it would be fun to share an example of timeless pieces that can make their own statement while still working well with changing trends.
Starting with the sofa, whose story is still my favorite… I still drive by the house we rescued this from almost every day and I love that this piece has had a second chance to be a centerpiece for beautiful people and meaningful conversations. Read all about the original story HERE.
Another very early piece you may remember is this French cabinet HERE. I have considered replacing it a few times, but haven’t found anything yet that I feel belongs here quite like this. So, for now, still here and still beautiful and functional for us!
Another of my very favorite pieces is our round mirror. It was also one of the very first pieces in this space and I was thrilled to find it at an estate sale for only $5! I would love to know what all this mirror has seen in its previous lives and the stories behind all its imperfections. I know it has seen a lot of changing decor and changing seasons in here. Do you see why I probably will never give this up?
This room also holds several fun DIYs I’ve done that I still love and they make this room what it is. One of the first of those was this “marble” table. Remember when I did this HERE?
And another fun DIY was my fireplace screen which is still a favorite of mine as well. You can see the post on this HERE.
I had been inspired by a high-end version of this back when I did it, but not long ago, a reader shared this source for a better price!…
And lastly, my first landscape painting I did is also in this room, and probably always will be. Here is the post on that painting is you’ve ever wanted to try one yourself!
