I hear ya on Home Depot over Lowe's. Just this weekend John and I were looking at various items and I stopped at Lowe's because I got to it first. We were shocked at some of the prices and drove on to Home Depot (on the way home so not at all out of our way). Everything we wanted was at least a dollar less and some significantly more than that less. We decided then and there that from now on Home Depot was where we would stop versus Lowe's….

GREAT job! It looks marvelous! And I LOVVVVE the color all the way to Miami and back! It is perfect! And, why is it that Lowe's hardware is usually more expensive for the same thing? duh…xxoo Diana

This turned out so sweet! Love the color. We had a desk just like this that my children used for years. It was a maple color and I finally sold it in a garage sale. Your post has made me think I should have kept it! 🙂

Love the desk and chair very pretty. The colors are lovely. I love the look you created for your home with those pieces. Want to beat HD and Lowe's prices on hardware? I bought tons of kitchen knobs from an ebay store (somebody in Key West) and paid only $80! I was concerned it would be junk when it arrived but they were nice heavy knobs. I had enough for my kitchen (I had a large kitchen at the time), the laundry room and both bathrooms. Then I still had some–so off to re-do my mother's kitchen–hers is large too, and I still have a few.

I found a very similar desk at Salvation Army and cannot wait to get it finished to put in my daughter's room!! I still need to find a chair for it though. Did you you seal your desk with poly? I am wondering what's the best finish for the top since its going to get so much use!
    Thanks,
    Jennifer
