Lily & Noah’s Wedding: the Details
Watching your daughter plan her wedding is a dream that is born the day she is… you may not think about it all the time she’s growing up, but it’s there, always maturing with her, the vision changing with her through the years until the time arrives and she gets her ultimate inspiration: true love.
And when you have creative genes in abundance just bursting to get out, like we do in this family, you get a wedding like Lily and Noah’s, designed down to the smallest details by the artist, Lily, herself. We got the first glance at the vision with the invitations, which were the cutest little illustration of the church. Along with that came the stained glass monogram motif and it was an endless flow of beautiful expression from there!

Did I mention the front doors of the church open to reveal the bride and groom making their exit??

As I shared in my previous post, the ceremony focus was Lily and Noah with Christ at the center– very simple and sacred and meaningful with very little distraction away from the main message and purpose. We had large bouquets on the platform and small bouquets on the pews, but the people were really the centerpiece!

And after the ceremony, it was all about celebrating! All of us made our way from the wedding to the reception venue, Marblegate Farm, which is very special to us as it is where we had the wedding of Abby and Beau 5 years ago! We absolutely love this location for many reasons, and it was perfect for Lily’s vision of a family garden party feel.

Upon entering the reception, guests were greeted right away with the stained glass theme…

We absolutely loved how High Resolutions in Knoxville was able to make this large acrylic version of her stained glass design! Paired with the large paper flowers Lily designed, constructed, and painted, it was a perfect spot for photos with the couple!

And then, there were the flowers! Lily and I met with the florist on a few occasions to share the vision. She was the same florist we worked with for Abby’s wedding and we love her! Lily was extremely specific with colors and flower types, sharing her design boards and mocking up the style.

She wanted the garden party feel, so she collected various distinct types for the past year from thrifting and markets to get just the right ones. We had given all the baskets to Kim, our florist, ahead of time, and when we arrived to see them on that day, it was even better than our vision!

Lily also wanted soda bottles for more stems, a blue and white checked napkin underneath for that picnic vibe, and colored candles that coordinated with all the printed pieces.

And speaking of printed pieces, each guest had another version of the stained glass monogram at the setting which held a not of thanks from Lily and Noah, as well as a menu with a panted scene of Marblegate Farm.

A moss green napkin tied on a diagonal and draped around was a perfect compliment to the leaf of the Lily of the Valley design. We used some wonderful disposable pieces for the place setting which I’ll link at the end.

Lily and Noah came in after their first look for a first look at the reception area and she was overjoyed to see it all!

Her seating chart was another work of art with beautiful functionality as well…

It was an abstract painting of Marblegate with the guest cards attached by faux was seals.

Lily’s welcome sign for the guests was by the door, and was another nod to the beautiful location.

The matchmaker of the happy couple was in attendance and got his own seat, marked by this sign, as well as a specially tagged boutonniere!

The vision Lily had for the mantle was to keep it simple with a handmade sign she designed and sewed herself as well as a garland. Two live ferns in baskets gave the fresh outdoor feel with the candles tied in colorful ribbons filling the fireplace.

More bursting colorful flowers brought the theme to the cake table were we had Nothing Bundt Cakes bundtinis and a gorgeous layered honey cake with fruit and flowers made by the Artisan Cakery in Knoxville.

Lily’s gorgeous dress was from Loveliest Bridal Boutique in Knoxville with a few added details she also designed herself! Noah’s suit was the perfect brown they were looking for and great for all seasons of the year! Suit linked here.

Lily’s bouquet, to quote her when she saw it, was “the most gorgeous bouquet I have ever seen in my life!!!”
It was truly stunning, containing all the specific flowers she had requested, with the showstopper being the anthurium in the “most perfect shade of pink”. Our florist was a dream maker– if you are in the Knoxville area, I’m happy to pass her info to you as she does not have a website.

She did a fabulous job with the bridesmaid and mom bouquets as well, each one with a coordinating ribbon to the dresses. The bridesmaid dresses were each hand-picked by Lily from various shops in the colors and patterns she envisioned.

And she also chose my dress, which I absolutely loved with its Lily of the Valley motif, not only to coincide with her theme, but to represent my Lily herself… You can find it here from Lula Kate, and I purchased mine from Bella Bridesmaids in Knoxville, which I highly recommend!

Did I mention this day was an absolute dream? These smiles tell it all. That’s the ending every mom has when that wedding vision first appears. So thankful for a beautiful day in a million ways, but a million times more thankful that these two found each other! Thank you, Jesus.
