My Four Favorite Projects
To say I love projects & making things over is a gross understatement. I have a mental list going all the time of plans for things to make or re-make… or decorate or re-decorate. I love Hobby Lobby & I’ve been known to visit a certain thrift store twice in the same day. I’m addicted to creativity. And I have this blog to prove it. And sometimes I get questions from friends & readers asking how I have time to think up projects, do them, blog about them and still have time for everything else. And the answer is: I don’t always. But, no matter what else is going on & what latest find is sitting in my garage waiting for its turn to be painted, my four biggest projects are always on my mind. They’re my masterpieces. My life’s work. And when even my favorite pieces of furniture have long been outdated & tossed aside, these projects will still be my favorite and most important of all. These are the projects I will spend my life and whatever else I have to make sure they turn out right. Aren’t they gorgeous? I’m crazy about them. But, they do require a lot of work. And a lot of creativity. Especially in the summertime when days are filled with picnics, barbeques, swimming with friends, and-oh, yeah- fighting with your brother or sisters. And this is the part we’ve been working on lately. I’ve been on a campaign. I haven’t yet made up signs & banners to hang all over the house, but that may be next. Our campaign is based on Romans 12:10, which states:“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another”I’m calling the campaign “You Before Me”. We’re working on preferring others before ourselves & being kind. And so far, it’s a tough campaign. I still haven’t ruled out the signs and banners. But I did come up with an award for the one who’s best showing forth the spirit of the verse. It’s just a little incentive to encourage them all to keep it going. Here’s how I made it:I started with piece of thin cardboard (the backing of a pad of scrapbook paper), some glue, and some other scrapbooking supplies, and some ribbon. I traced a circle on the cardboard with a spool of ribbon, then cut it out. Then, I cut out several pieces of cardstock & trimmed them out with different types of scissors & glued them on the cardboard. I also used some punch-out letters to add the theme for our campaign. Next, I punched a hole & added an eyelet at the top to thread a ribbon through. On the back, I glued a plain ol’ clothes pin. I used this to hold some strips of ribbon & one more “ribbon” made of a $5 bill folded accordian-style & then folded in half at an angle. This way, the winner can remove the money & the award can be used again for another winner. Here’s the finished product:I’ve got big plans to use this type of character award for other campaigns as well. I think the Clean Room Award might be next. Or maybe the Taking Initiative Award. All my furniture re-do’s are a piece of cake compared to these 4 projects…but they’re so worth it! Sharing this project with a few of these parties!

THIS IS THE BEST IDEA I'VE EVER SEEN!!!!! LOVE how this turned out! I'm going to have to use these for my daughter. My son, is just naturally giving, caring, kind- he's been a breeze!! He even volunteered to work at the Vacation Bible School with the preschool kids (he'll be 12 next weekend) My daughter- LOVE her to death but she needs some help with the You before me concept! Oh ya and the clean room one too! đŸ˜‰

Guess what? Of all your projects and "doings" you have your priorities straight! I can tell you are a wonderful Mom! I love the idea you shared and will be using it with my grandkids! I can see using it with hair bows (those fairy floaty ones) instead of money for my little granddaughters….or I could clip in a Treat Receipt for an ice cream cone at McDonalds.. Thanks! Diana
