Speaking of Prayer
This morning, as I sat at our breakfast table with my family, I listened to my dad as he prayed long and deep for all of us dear to him. He has been sparing his words in these recent days and hours as it takes so much energy to speak, but when he prays, it’s there. That powerful, grace-filled, manner that only comes from knowing God authentically. It’s the kind of prayer that can’t be manufactured out of just good thoughts and intentions. It’s the kind that touches the heart of God. And I can’t escape the thought that it’s one of the things I will miss the most if God takes my dad home soon, as it appears He will. Who will pray for me like this for the rest of my life?
And the next thought: who will pray for my kids like this? It needs to be me. Even if there were no other benefits to this Christian life (and thanks to our Great God there are more than can ever be understood), I need a close relationship with the Lord if for no other reason than to be able to pray for my kids, for my husband, for my family and friends. I need God’s hand on them like His hand has been on me.
And you need God’s hand on you, too. We have the amazing opportunity to speak to the Creator God for every little thing we need. I’ve experienced first-hand the blessings of having parents who have prayed diligently for me probably every day that I’ve lived. How can I not pass that blessing to my kids? There’s no better gift or inheritance I can give them. It’s the best thing myparents could have given me, and I’m so thankful for it.
If you need to know more abouthaving a relationship with God so you canexperience the blessing of knowingHim, please contact me.
And if you’re already a Christian, will you please pray for my dad and my family? These are the hardest days of our lives, and we appreciate every prayer.
I’m praying for you, too, friends. If you have a special request on this Pray for Me Monday, be sure let me know.

Praying for you and your family! Thank you so much for what you shared in your post. It really touched my heart and ministered to me about prayer. It is good to be reminded of how powerful and important it is.
