365 Days of Thankful
Even though it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the stores, I’m the kind of girl who likes to take one holiday at a time, so there won’t be any Christmas music or décor around here until after Thanksgiving. (Even if Michael Bublé does continue to stare at me through the cellophane wrapper covering his new Christmas CD case. I will not open it! Not yet.)Instead, I’m trying my hardest to remind myself & my kids that Thanksgiving is not just a day in November, it’s a way of life. 365 days a year. That was my goal when I came up with our Blessings Board last year. It’s been a reader favorite, & it’s one of my favorites as well.We have a lot to be thankful for right now and have been keeping our board filled for the past several weeks. I’ve even gotten more specific lately about what kinds of blessings I want the kids to think about & write down. The other day, for example, I told them to think of some blessings to write down that are intangible, & I explained to the younger ones that this means “things you can’t touch.”As they began calling out & writing down their blessings that cannot be touched, our youngest, Lola, yelled out “I know! Mom’s curtains!”. So, of course, I wrote it down. After all, I am thankful for them. So, what’s on your Blessings Board?

Good health is on my blessing board…and our new baby that is due in a couple of weeks. You did a great job with that Blessing Board, Julie! I'm with you- one holiday at a time! xo Diana

Love your board! Such an excellent idea that my adolescents could really use. I have to find a place for something like this in my house!

Thanks for the laugh! What Lola came up w/ is adorable. It amazes me how kids understand things so literally and are so matter of fact. My kids can't touch my grandma's curtains either(I don't have curtains; I want them, but am not sure I want to make the investment(what little it may be) since we live in an apt and are in school. Once we graduate and move I'll get them). It's so important to keep things in perspective. We can either focus on what we don't have(like curtains) or what we do have-however tangible or intangible it may be. Thanks for the reminder.

Hello! I think I found/started following your blog around early fall last year. Your Blessings Board is one of my favorite projects you've done! In fact, I linked to your tutorial on TheMudPieMakers.com yesterday. 🙂 Love it! Hope you have a wonderful month of Thanksgiving!
