Our Beach Condo Makeover
Many of you remember when I announced earlier in the summer that we decided to start on an Airbnb adventure in a beach condo in Pensacola, Florida. It’s a place we visit often with all of our adults kids having attended or currently attending college in the area, so it was a natural choice for us. After a few months of planning and gathering some items for the new styling I had in mind, we finally made it down this past weekend to put the plans in place!
And I’m happy to announce that it’s done! Although it’s been continually rented throughout the time we have had it, I feel like I’m more excited than ever to welcome guests now that I’ve put some of my own preferences in here. So I thought I’d share some of the before and afters to see what you think of the changes and show you what a little paint and some minor switch-ups can do.
Welcome in to the old entryway…

And now welcome to the new! Obviously the paint was key to making this space brighter and lighter and we matched what the previous owners had done on some of the walls : SW Pearly White. And I love it!
Another main element I couldn’t wait to add was our own art. I now have several custom pieces from myself and my girls hanging in here beginning with this Pensacola Beach art by my daughter Lily! I love it so much! You can find her on Instagram HERE.
You might also remember when I shared the cabinet. You can find that HERE.
On the opposite entry wall, I have a vintage Pensacola pennant I found on Ebay, new hooks, and more custom art from my daughter Abby! You can visit her site HERE.
This is such a cute beach vibe as well in the exact colors I wanted.
Again, a much brighter and more colorful look than this previous…
There was just a little bit of painting we needed to do in the kitchen to tie it together…
And since the dining/living wall was already painted white, we didn’t have to do that. But the one change we did want to make was switching out the light fixture to a more updated look. From this one…
To THIS ONE I like much better!
On the opposite wall, we did paint the wall Pearly White and kept the console and mirror…
But added THESE colorful chairs which I feel makes it so much more “me”.
Another BIG change I wanted to make was this sofa art…
It was sooo large I knew it would be expensive to replace or take me a long time to re-paint, so we decided to print a canvas to cover it! This is something we do at our print shop, so we have a little experience with it. And Dave had the entire thing re-covered in 10 minutes!
I looove the new look so much!
Can you spot another big change from this before…
…to this after??
Yes, the new drapes! They are THESE fabulous blackout drapes. I cannot say enough how much I love these! I bought them for the living and main bedroom areas, and they look and feel like a high end curtain without the high end price! This is the beige color. They come in a pair in several length options and I highly recommend! They have a quality linen feel with a substantial blackout lining. Check them out here.
The rods and rings are also a great quality and although they are not the same manufacturer, I am happy with the way the gold tones go together. You can find the rods HERE, and the clip rings HERE.
We also replaced the accent chair by the window with this cute rattan chair…
And we switched out the the old gray recliner for a newer off-white one…
I will be shopping for a new rug in the near future, but this one is just fine for now.
Here’s another before view with the darker paint…
and the after!
It was fun to finally hang some of my little paintings I’ve been working on over the past few months and see them in their new spaces.
A couple more things we added were an acrylic box to hold a collection of shells, and a little journal I hope guests will write in to share a bit about themselves.
The two bedrooms were super-fun to refresh, and this one started out with a lot of gray and a plethora of random signs and art…
And ended up with plenty of light and some touches of pink! Do you recognize the pieces I shared before? The mirrors were from Marketplace, the shell art was some I collected, and the scalloped rug was a fun find from HERE.
The bedding is sourced via my affiliate links below…
Seahorse Pillows (from Anthropologie, but no longer available)
Palm Quilt was from Homegoods
Although the view will always be the star of the show here, I am very happy with how this room came together, and it was very comfortable! And you’ll notice the same great blackout curtains I mentioned make a huge difference in here as well.
I gave it one more personal signature with the pink palm painting I did that some of you may remember from Instagram.
And in the bathroom, another piece I did and brought with me, the waves art…
Another big change was taking the guest room from this…
to this!
I absolutely love this Summer Waves pattern from Wunderwall. It totally changed this room in about one hour!
I found this vintage sailboat art and framed it in a thrifted frame I loved. With the same quilt set I have in the main bedroom, I just added some striped throw pillows from Marshalls along with a blue checked quilt at the end of the bed.
I bought the new curtains HERE, but you may have seen in my Instagram stories that I needed to add a little blackout liner so I used canvas drop cloth layered behind and clipped on with rings.
We also freshened the second bathroom with a new curtain and new art as well!
And lastly, this balcony is the perfect place for coffee in the morning or for sharing a conversation anytime! This furniture was new when we bought the condo so I’m leaving it as is until we need more!
Having shared all this, I would love to extend an invitation for you to stay here! I am excited to have friends and acquaintances share our home away from home. So many of you have asked about pricing, our calendar, etc, so here are the details! The listing can be found HERE on Airbnb (and at the time of this writing the current pics are not yet updated). Our property manager handles everything for us, including the listing, and will take care of whatever needs guests have during their stay. Feel free to ask any questions you may have and I’ll do my best to answer! I’d love to know if you’d like to visit sometime!
