Dogwood Cottage Kitchen: Full Reno Reveal!

As you most likely know, for the past several months, we have been experiencing what feels like our own live renovation show– except it has lasted way longer than the span of a 30-minute episode!

The kitchen was a huge part of the project, and we completely gutted it to start fresh.  Remember how it looked when we started??

There was a long galley area with an actual half bath in an awkward spot just off the eating area in the kitchen…

So we decided to open up the whole space by taking out the bathroom and moving some appliances around.  That meant a lot of demo!

But our vision slowly came to life and now I can hardly recognize this space from what it was before!

The galley area is now opened up and has a completely new look with the vintage doors leading to the laundry room… (Laundry room reveal coming soon!)

And one of our absolute favorite spots is what we’re calling the coffee counter looking out the windows to the front of the house!  The perfect spot for morning coffee…

Obviously we changed everything from the ground up, and the tile is another of our favorites.  We decided to go with the penny tile as a nod to the modern vintage vibe Abby loves, and this simple flower pattern is what she decided she loved the best.

It’s a basic gloss white penny tile with some french blue tiles used as the accents.  We grouted with white grout!

The cabinets were purchased locally and came painted in the creamy color we wanted.  Hardware for the cabinets are these & we love them!…

The pendant lights are another favorite, which we added above each window on two sides of the kitchen.  They’re perfect with the hardware as well!

You may remember when I shared all about the backsplash HERE.  The tile we used is the one below and we love the way the completed look turned out!

One thing I love is a window over a kitchen sink!  So glad this cottage has that feature to love as well.  Sink and faucet are linked here…

In the area that was once the awkward bathroom, we now have a quaint coffee bar!  And the open shelf feature was a vision Abby had and I love them!!

And how cute is the view out the window here into the courtyard!?

Another feature we wanted to fit in somewhere were the open shelves.  And it turned out the front corner near the range was the perfect spot!  Dave made these using the same butcher block we used on the counters and they add so much design detail as well as functionality! (We also used the butcher block to make the shelves in the wall feature.)

The counters came from a local source, but they are basic butcher block slabs like you find here…

Beau finished and sealed the countertops with a food safe product that came highly recommended by an expert and it was very easy to use!  You can find it sourced here…

We have tried to make the best use of all the space and it has turned out to be a great kitchen for a small house!  Beau and Abby are thrilled to be in and getting it settled to welcome the littlest family member soon!
