Say Hola to the Casa de Oro!
It’s true, y’all! There are so many big events going on in our lives right now, I can hardly keep up with sharing them. I’ve been sharing with my Instagram friends some of this news closer to real-time and I’d love for you to follow there as well! But for those of you who haven’t heard, Grant and Miriam have bought a house!
Many of you have been following our journey of helping them search for a house in this unprecedented market in East Tennessee, which is much like other areas of the country. With their apartment lease winding down and the news of the baby on the way, we all watched the market carefully to try to find just the right house for them, spending many hours touring numerous homes all around our area. They put offers on 4 other houses, all of which had multiple offers and crazy terms, only to be denied each time. It was so hard on them to go through the emotional roller coaster of deciding to put an offer on a house and then get denied. We just kept reminding ourselves that God would work it out and we would know it was Him because it would be so good it wouldn’t make sense.
And then at the beginning of this month, we saw a house pop up on the market in the place we least expected it: right across the street from the Dogwood Cottage! And when the owners accepted their offer right away, we knew it was the scenario we’d been expecting right where we didn’t think to look.
As a mom, I’m ecstatic that the four of them will be so close to each other (which happens to be just a few minutes from us as well!). And to think the new babies will start their lives so near each other is just too much!
So here’s a peek at the newest home story….
It was built in the early 1950’s like the Dogwood Cottage and has the cutest gold color on the exterior which is how they came up with the name Casa de Oro! The inside was move-in ready, which is what they wanted, so we gave the entire house a fresh coat of paint and we’re adding a few more details to make it theirs along the way!
The other miraculous part was that they got to close in two weeks! Just after they got the keys, they left town for a little first anniversary trip they had already planned, but we had a crew of friends and family to get busy getting everything painted for them while they were gone!
We painted all the walls in SW Origiami White –the same we have in our house– because it’s a tried and true creamy white we could trust!
There are some really cute charming features in this house, like the builtins around the fireplace, which Grant and Miriam decided would be great as a bold statement color!
So, Miriam chose SW Courtyard and I painted it on for them.
We are absolutely loving how it turned out! Grant and I also spent a few days last week painting allllll the trim in the house and it’s a huge improvement.
Miriam’s parents came up this past weekend and other friends and family joined in to get them entirely moved in, so that was a huge blessing!
Now there are some little projects to do and decor to style so I’ll be sharing some of that along the way! Plus— not one but two nurseries are waiting to be decorated as well!! In case you can’t tell, I’m elated. For all of us! Thanks to so many of you who asked about them and prayed for them to find the right place. Here it is and it truly is golden.
