David and Brittany’s Townhouse Turnover
As many of you know, a love for home design and decor runs in my family. My dad was always doing a home improvement project of some kind and teaching us about it along the way, so my brother and my sister and I just naturally gained an interest! One of the most popular projects on this blog that I’ve shared has been my brother’s and his wife’s Rancher Reno which has been a fabulous transformation from the start! You can find the initial post of that HERE in case you missed it! And for a couple of months now, I’ve been excited to show you the latest project that David has been working on with the help of his friend, Josh. We’re calling it the Townhouse Turnover, and it’s going to be a fabulous one!
I can’t take any credit for actually contributing anything to this project except a little design choice advice, the hard work has been all Dave and Josh. And these before pics give you an idea of how this story started out…
The messiest and possibly most rewarding part was the removal of the popcorn ceiling. These guys took on the huge task and nailed it using the vinegar and water method. The basic process it to mix equal parts of vinegar and water, spray it onto the popcorn ceiling, then carefully scrape to remove the texture and return the ceiling to a smooth surface. Click below for details on the particular scraper they used for the job…
Here’s a quick timelapse of the actual process…
Beyond that, they have also undertaken other major areas of the house like ripping out the nasty master shower…
And putting in a fabulous new one…
That’s a sneak peek of the progress, but you’ll love how the other areas are coming along as well…
The walls are primed and getting painted and a few fixtures are up. Recognize this favorite of mine? …
Find it for a steal in 3 different finishes! I’ve linked the source on the pic below..
Isn’t it looking fabulous already?? They’re making more and more progress every day and I can’t wait to share the end result! You’ll be seeing some of my favorite details in the finishings as well. Stay tuned to see the flip!
