Julie, way to go! Your screen looks so much like the one at Horchow. I'm thinking that really was meant to be.

I hope you'll come join us for Thoughts of Home on Thursday. 🙂

That is gorgeous! I so believe God cares even about the little things like fireplace screens! And rewards persistence and ingenuity. 🙂 Every time you talk about your Dad, it makes me tear up, and I say a prayer for you. I vote for keeping it in the piano room…I think it has more impact there. Or maybe you could find another one? Even better! 🙂

Truly your prayers were answered. Before you make a choice though I would call every Ross within 50 mile radius and see if they have another one. I don't have Ross in my area but I have been known to 10 or so Marshall's and Home Goods when I'm "hunting"……..

I agree completely! God cares about even the smallest details of our lives. He just blesses us to remind us to stay close and connected to Him! He is such a good good father!!!

OMG!! Don't you just love how you can save BIG money and make something else work and be even MORE happy with the outcome! That's what you have here! And re the other room – if Ross has another, I would buy it and either paint this one gold or different color. I have two of the same color of an indoor/outdoor rug in my home – one in the dining room and the other in our bedroom. Don't think any one notices. I do love and smile how God makes these things happen….and THANK HIM when they do happen out of no where. Perhaps that's your dad smiling down on you too! -)

This is a fantastic DIY! And you're right, God cares about what we care about 🙂 And isn't it so fun to see your dad still helping you out even though he isn't right beside you? God works in mysterious ways 🙂

    Hello Mrs. Ryan,
My name is Emma Grant. I am currently attending Crown College. I happened to come upon your blog/INSTA/FB and I absolutely loved it. It was so neat to see what you are doing with this. I don't have INSTA or FB, but happened to see your post about Abby's paper she wrote on changing places with you, and how much she admired her father/your husband. And I just wanted to tell you how encouraging that was to me. The Christian home is fading with today's society, but God has stayed and blessed your familly with such a closeness and desire to love Him. You have clearly set a good example for your kids of what a Christ-honoring marraige, home, and family should be like. I just wanted to say Thank You. Thank You for the example and encouragement you have been.
    Sincerely,
    Emma Grant

Emma–thank you for taking the time to write this out as an encouragement to me 🙂 I'm glad you found me here and that it has encouraged you as well. You clearly have the desire for the same kind of future for yourself and your family, and I know God will bless that! Keep up your high standards and keep up your encouragement to others! That is a great ministry in itself 🙂

Love it. You gave me an idea. The screens I want are $200+. You’ve inspired me to buy one I’ve found at Target on clearance for 41.00. It’s a black square design and has a screen inset. I want white and no screen. No worries, I will spray paint white and remove the screen. The hard part will be how to remove the screen. Wish me luck. Thanks again for the inspiration.
