Wish I had this post a day earlier. I just gave all of Thomas's teachers herbs for the end of the year. I painted a strip of chalkboard paint on the terracotta pot and wrote the name of the herbs with the bistro marker. I put about 8 small pots on a big terracotta tray for the classroom teacher and it looked so pretty. These flags would have been so cool to use too! I will have to do it for my own herbs!

What a great idea! Now you made me want to grow my own herbs just so I can make them their own cute little flags!

That is truly such a cute idea. I love those little flags for all sorts of purposes – they would make a cute "happy birthday" banner on a cake too, that is reusable! Thank you for sharing!

I love this idea! I had been contemplating paying for markers at our garden center but they are $5 each! Now I am going to make some. Thanks so much for sharing!

Whoa! I am slapping my forehead over this ingenious idea. Why didn't I think of this? I love to have matching labels for my herb bed, and have tried different approaches, including making my own faux-terracotta ones from polymer clay (they lasted a year and fell apart).

Your idea of using an aluminum tray is perfect. It's easy, cheap, fast and so classy!
