My Whatchamacallit: The After
Last week when I found this gorgeous gold thingy for only $4.00 at Goodwill, I snatched it up faster than you can say “What the heck is that?” & dreamt of this transformation all the way home. Then, I gave you all this sneak peek last Friday & asked for your take on its past life. Here’s a little reminder of how she looked when we first met.
Well, I still don’t know for sure what it was, but I do know what it is now: My New Fabulous Jewelry Cabinet.
Here she is in her new home in my closet.
The makeover process included a can of white gloss spray paint, a couple of thin pieces of wood cut to size & covered with exactly $5 worth of this truly divine Candice Olson $50-a-yard fabric that I got on sale, & a few little screw-in hooks. That’s it, Y’all!
Every girl needs one of these fabulous whatchamacallits…and if I ever find another one, I’ll let you know.

It's amazing what spray paint can do! I have to be honest Julie, I'm not sure I would have picked that up and taken it home, but you had a great vision and look what it is now! Adorable! Oh, and isn't Candice Olson just "Divine"? Love her!

It's lovely. Judging by the inside I'd say it was a triptych cabinet and that it once housed three images or pictures.

Hey, there!
I realise this is quite an old post, but
I’ve only just stumbled upon your blog, and this cabinet really intrigued me.
I love what you did with it!
It turns out that it was originally a jewelry armoire, circa 1973, made in New York by Syroco/Dart Industries for Sarah Coventry.
Go figure!
It was destined for this fabulous new life you’ve given it!
Here is an Etsy listing for one in its original condition, in case you wanted to see what it would have looked like, in its (first) heyday:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/845057581/sarah-coventry-syroco-wall-hung-jewelry?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=sarah+coventry+box&ref=sr_gallery-1-37&from_market_listing_grid_organic=1
Thank you for the inspiration.
Stay safe, and be well!
