Door Panel Chalkboard How-To: No Painting Required!

It was plain-jane before and needing a little something, so I gave the contact paper a try.
To get the perfect shape of my door panel, I simply taped the contact paper up with some painter’s tape, then used a crayon to rub on the guideline for cutting. Lucky for me, my panel was exactly 18″ wide, the same width as the contact paper, so I didn’t even have to cut the sides!
After cutting, I just started at the top and began to peel and stick. This stuff is so easy to use and can even be pulled up and re-stuck if a wrinkle appears.
Just peel it down a couple inches at a time, smoothing it carefully as you go.
My door panel was done it less than 10 minutes! Way easier than painting!
And now I’ve got the perfect spot for leaving messages or reminders or just another excuse for more chalkboard art.
It erases completely clean with a damp cloth, and leaves no residual chalk markings!

I have seen this advertised but have never tried it. I guess I think of the old contact paper which was ALWAYS a mess to apply and would stick to itself and wrinkle and there was no time to readjust it-lol Your door looks GREAT!!!!! xo Diana

Julie,
Do you know if this comes off easily? I purchased some thinking it was that "cling film" type of wall adhesive, not necessarily like contact paper. We are in a rented space and don't want to mess up walls/wallpaper etc.

I'm not sure about this, Ashley. I did a test piece on my door & it came off perfectly, but I don't know about walls. You may want to contact the company & see if they have answers for you!
