Our Green Velvet Madeline Sofa: Two Years Later
It’s hard to believe, but it’s already been two years this week since we first got our green velvet sofa! A lot of life has happened since then with lots of friends and family gathering here, two little toddlers always jumping around on it, and some quiet Sunday afternoon naps in between. So I thought it would be good to give you an update on this piece!

I first wrote about it HERE, sharing that I bought this from a local furniture store, but so many of you ask for a link, so I wanted to give you that as well. You can shop online HERE and the color is Moss. This is the 90″ wide version, but it also comes in a 71″ wide.

So how do I feel about this sofa after two years? The answer is still– I love it! It has held up very well, is still very comfortable, and still looks brand new.

One of my favorite things about this sofa is the shimmer effect that changes the color slightly in different lighting. It’s like a sofa of many moods which also tends to go with many accent colors of pillows or rugs as well.

As for care, I have steam cleaned this sofa like my other upholstery with this Green Machine steam cleaner which I love for so many things, and it works like a charm on small spills or droplets. You can shop the latest version of this cleaner at the best price I’ve seen HERE. And the cleaning fluid I use in it is this one HERE.

We rotate the cushions (which are all completely reversible), every month or so to keep them evenly fluffed. This is a down-filled sofa which is what gives it the comfortable feel but does need to be fluffed and flipped now and then!

I hope this gives you a little more peace of mind if you are considering purchasing this super popular Madeline sofa (also called the Fabienne from Lulu and Georgia). If you have other questions, let me know and I’ll try to answer!

Are you still loving the couch? I’m also wondering how that color has held up since it is t performance fabric?

Still loving it! It is still looking great and fabric has held up wonderfully

Thank you for this review! Do you consider this a sofa for snuggling up on or more of a firm seat for conversation? Thank you!!

Hi! Sorry I’m just seeing this question. I would say the couch is definitely fine for snuggling. Keep in mind the back is not super high, but we use throw pillows behind our necks if we are wanting to lounge for a while. Also, I think it’s just great for conversation as well.

Hi! I have this same sofa and I had it custom made and ordered through a local store. I find that it creaks. It drives me nuts because it’s not even our primary sofa (no kids jumping on it or anything). I wonder if mine has a defect. Any thoughts? I’ve had it for 3 years, but the creaking started over a year ago – I just haven’t had time to deal with it. Would love to know if you have the same findings. Thanks!!

Hi Lisa! I have to say ours does not have that problem. We do use it as our primary sofa with lots of people sitting on it on a weekly basis. I would say there was probably something on yours along the way that came loose or just wasn’t tight to begin with. If yours is like mine, the bottom is covered and sealed so you can’t really see what’s going on underneath. Maybe you could have someone from the furniture store come out and take a look at it.

Hi, I just got a 71” Madeline loveseat in a chenille fabric. I love it but I didn’t expect the cushions to be so full and stiff. Did yours start out that way? Is mine too overstuffed?
Thanks!

Hi Linda! I’m wondering if yours is down filled or a poly fill combo? That could be the difference. I’ve seen the poly filled ones and they are definitely firmer while the all down ones seem to be a little less so. Maybe that is the difference? Hope that helps.

Thanks for that info. I’ll have to check my order.
