A Color-Rich Tablescape to Savor Summer
Even as schools are starting all around us, we’re grasping onto the last beautiful bits of summer at our house and still enjoying it. As many of you know, we rarely eat inside the house from Spring into Fall, so the screened porch is our dining room, and we make the most of it. Today, I’m sharing some outdoor entertaining inspo along with some blogger friends who love to entertain and I hope you’ll check them out to find some great ideas! I’m sharing links to them as well as sources for the elements of this table at the bottom of this post!
For our table, I started with some gorgeous zinnias that Lily and Lola and I cut at a flower farm over the weekend!
They provided the perfect color palette from which to start!
From there, I pulled out some patterned linens I’ve had that brought in leaves and fruits to compliment the color theme.
I love trying out different pattern mixes to see what can work! That’s one reason I love to start with basic white plates because they give so much opportunity to build upon. At the last minute, I decided to try my cobalt blue goblets as well and I ended up loving the pop of blue!
On each plate, I wanted a punch of color to go with the classic black and white gingham napkins, so I opted for these faux oranges which I’ve used for many things. Real fruit would be great as well.
I really wanted to bring in some more pink, so I went with one of my go-to favorites! Paper! Cutting some leaves out of pink card stock and folding them in the middle for dimension, I clipped two together with a mini gold clothespin and I love how they completed the look!
I have always been a fan of paper crafting and other means of bringing paper into the picture when I set tables. This could easily be used as a place card by just adding a name.
Some small tea lights added a little glow …
And this space was ready for a great gathering! I’m keeping these basic pieces out for a little longer, just to hold onto the joy of summer.

I’d love for you to click over to visit the homes of some of my fellow bloggers and save some ideas for your next outdoor gathering!
