Painting Progress and Kitchen Updates at the Dogwood Cottage!
One of the many lessons we’re learning from this first house flip is that everything seems to take a little longer than anticipated but somehow time is still flying by. Especially when you have a full life schedule going on already! Since my last update, we’ve made a lot of progress, plus taken another trip while continuing to juggle several other life events. More on that coming soon!
For now, we kicked up the speed on getting this house project finished as soon as possible so Beau and Abby can get into their new home. We currently have painters working on the interior and the exterior and major progress in the kitchen with cabinets now going in!
It’s really starting to take shape in here!
There are still a few details to tweak and a couple extra cabinets we are waiting for, but it is really exciting to see the room developing!
As you can see– there is a lot of white going on and we are loving it! Most of the interior and also the main exterior are SW Alabaster. Abby takes after me in that she likes a nice neutral palette as a background so she can incorporate her plans for some color here and there with accents. And we have some fabulous surprise accents planned!
One of the plans we have is for this dining room. We’ve been prepping these original built-ins for a new look and we can’t wait to get this done soon!
Work on the exterior is super exciting too.
Our painter is getting the whole of the house sprayed in SW Alabaster, but we took care of the shutters and their new color over the weekend! For those we chose SW French Moire and it’s the perfect French blue we were hoping for! The shutters were a basic black vinyl, but still in good shape, so we gave them a couple coats of exterior Super Paint at the recommendation of the Sherwin Williams experts. There are so many windows on this house, which is one of our favorite features–so we called in a few sisters to lend a hand.
These two are excited to see the progress more than any of us, I think, and they have been working hard and learning a lot about each of the processes of this reno. I’m loving almost every minute of it– except for just a couple of little hiccups we’ve encountered, and even those have brought us something to laugh about! But this is such an exciting time for all of us.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m sharing much more of this house and all our adventures on my Instagram HERE if you want to follow along!
Doors, floors, and more coming very soon!
