Beau and Abby’s Wedding: the Reception and Details
Thank you, sweet friends, for all the messages and comments from my last post on Abby’s wedding. Just writing it out and re-living it through all the pictures was an amazing and emotional experience! It’s so hard to convey in a post all that the day entailed, but I do want to share some more details and favorite moments from the reception!
Several of you had said to me, leading up to the wedding, that you were excited to see what I would do with wedding decor since you have always known how much I love parties and decor of all kinds. However– this wedding was almost all Abby from the beginning because she is a very talented artist with lots of her own creative ideas! I was just there to help her. And I love how her personality and style really came through!

One of the most distinct and creative elements of their wedding was the print package, designed by Abby herself, in such a cute and yet classy way that set the tone and palette for all the decor. From the invites to the table decor, to every detail in between, there was some fun eye candy to see!
Even the wedding program was a work of art with each of the bridal party members’ illustrated portraits on the inside! Want to see more of her work? View Abby’s design page HERE and feel free to contact her for any kind of graphic design project large or small.
As I mentioned in the previous post, the decision to hold the ceremony outside was made just a day before, so not only was there not really time to choose a lot of decor, we just didn’t want to take away from the natural beauty that was already present in this spot! The simple chairs were just perfect, and some faux eucalyptus wreaths were the only extra decor we used!
The beautiful wedding party and their variety of colors and smiling faces were just the right compliment to the gorgeous setting.
And speaking of the bridesmaid dresses, here are the details, as promised…
From left to right, I’ll share the color and style of each of these dresses so you can shop them! This color palette was Abby’s vision come to life, and it was prefect for the day! She chose each color and the order they would appear and allowed the girls to choose the style of dress they wanted for themselves. The variety just adds to the interest and beauty! For the bridesmaids’ flowers, Abby chose for them to carry hoops, which I’ve shared here on the blog many times. Because we were able to have more time at home than we expected leading up to the wedding, Abby and I made these hoops ourselves using faux eucalyptus and flowers from Hobby Lobby. Click here for a basic how-to. We used 12 inch metal hoops for these which you can find via my affiliate link HERE.
We also decided to make all the guys’ boutineers from mostly small faux ranunculus.
There are also some similar options I’ve found for great prices via my affiliate links HERE and HERE
Each of the groomsmen also had a pocket square in the same color of the dress of the bridesmaid they would be escorting. We made these from the same swatches of the fabrics from David’s Bridal!
The hall at Marblegate was also an absolutely beautiful space to hold the reception. Again, we had decided to go with minimal decor with the printed pieces and colorful flowers being the main design elements, and it was just enough without overdoing it.
Abby had designed chargers for the guest tables which provided just the right amount of color to coordinate with the flowers and table numbers on the ivory tablecloths.
We had collected colored vases for several months to be filled with the flowers Abby had chosen, and it was so fun to see the vision come to life!
In the center of the room was the long bridal party table with a special paper runner designed to match the rest of the printed elements.
Real lemons and oranges with lettered leaf tags were the place holders for the bridal party…
We made a simple frame of copper piping, draped with sheer fabric, greenery, and lights for a fun backdrop for guests to greet the bride and groom.
The guest table list was also done on the copper framing, and each of the table lists was hung on ribbon…
On the mantle at the front of the room, we did a spray of eucalyptus, flowers, and lemons beside a pair of simple signs Abby designed which are now in their own home as a great momento from this day.
It was a great backdrop for the bride and groom’s first dance…
And that was just one of many great moments from the reception!
The bride needs her girls by her side, but the mom of the bride needs hers too! So thankful for these long-time friends of mine…
Another work of art was the cake done by a local baker (B & G Catering) which also conveyed the colorful flower theme. And it tasted amazing as well!
The entire day was memorable and fantastic in more ways than we can count. Thanks so much to those of you who have followed this chapter of our story to this point and encouraged us along the way! We love sharing these glimpses of our lives with you!
Special thanks to the following vendors who were a big part of making Abby and Beau’s day so special!
