Looking for the Perfect White Paint Color? Sherwin William’s Origami White
When I last updated you on our big painting project, we were in the middle of transitioning most of our main floor from the previous SW Morning Sun to the new and fresh SW Origami White. Choosing paint colors can be a stressful business! But, I could tell right away that I was going to love this choice!

And now that the full job is done, I’m sharing my review of Origami White as a fabulous neutral if you are looking for a smooth and creamy color that does not lean too far toward gray or tan, but somewhere balanced in between. The fresh clean coat has given the house the updated look we wanted.

And as you can see from these different spaces, all painted in Origami White, this color can look slightly different in different places, depending on light. Our ceilings are SW Ceiling Bright White, and I love the contrast to the walls.

Have you been thinking of painting a space in your home white? I highly recommend this color! Coming soon, I’ll be sharing a post with all the paint colors I’ve used in the house! Do you have a favorite paint color? I’d love to hear it!

It’s always good to have a recommended white paint color so I’m filing this away for the time being. PS & BTW I LOVE that dark wall in your dining room … it’s GORGEOUS!!!

I absolutely love it! I’m about to move into a new (old, 1970’s) townhome and have been desperate to find that perfect hint-of-cold-but-warm white. This looks like just the ticket!
Curious about the trim. Is that also Ceiling White? Or did you go with a different white there?
Thanks!

What color greys and blues did you use in the dining area. Absolutely fantastic!

Thank you!! The gray is SW Silver Strand and the blue wall is actually an entire mural from Wunderwall! You can find it here:

I’m searching for the SW color that’s a shade darker than Alabaster to use on exterior. Your review captured a key thing I like about Alabaster…how it changes in different light. Do you think this color has what it takes to could be a good candidate for my search? I

Sorry for the delay in response! I hesitate to give a full yes on this because I’m just not familiar with it as an exterior color, but I am very happy with it on the interior and definitely would choose it again!

What color are your cabinets?
October 16, 2020 @ 7:25 am
Unfortunately I don’t have the exact color of those!
October 3, 2020 @ 12:19 pm
Are your kitchen cabinets painted in origami also?
October 16, 2020 @ 7:25 am
No, they are a little starker white that unfortunately I don’t have the exact color!

What times do you see in the different lights from the origami white
October 15, 2020 @ 2:03 am
Sorry I meant what undertones
October 16, 2020 @ 7:24 am
I would say like most whites, when the sun is shining in, there would be the most yellow you would see. But most of the time, it’s a very neutral white if that makes sense.

Would you say that origami looks good next to charcoal smokey dark blue/almost grey? We are doing that as an accent wall and I want a not stark white but something that will go well next to the charcoal smokey color! It was between Oragami and BM Simply White

I think it can work! It doesn’t have a strong lean toward blues or yellows, but it’s still got a creamy tone rather than stark white. I hope that helps!

Thank you Julie for this post and for taking all the pictures in different light situations.
I will be re-painting my golden walled bedroom this winter. The room has north and east facing windows which provides sufficient light on sunny days but on cloudy days and in winter makes the room feel quite dark. The room needed a lighter color palette just not a stark white. You sold me on Oragami White.
Your home is beautiful BTW; you did a great job furnishing it.

What color of green is that in your dining room? I love it!
