How to Incorporate Decor Trends Into Your Home Now {Part Two}
Just in case you missed it last week, I’ve started a new mini series on decor trends and how to actually incorporate them into your home! My goal is to show you that you really can make big changes in your home without major renovations and big expenses. The first three of my favorite trends were in Part One, which I shared here, and today I’m sharing three more of my faves!
4. Rugs. I’m not sure why it has taken me to so long to learn this, but every time I get a new rug for a space in my house, I’m always amazed at how much it changes the whole look! My latest two rug additions are in my bathroom and dining room. Since Persian style over-dyed rugs are very popular right now, there are a wide range of prices and availability to choose from! My blue bathroom rug has made a huge impact, and I love that it was only $39 shipped! Plus, it comes in several colors. (Shop my affiliate link HERE)
And my dining room rug also made a huge change, lightening up the space tremendously. Many of you have asked about the source for this, which was also a fabulous deal. Find my affiliate link for this one HERE.
These gorgeous Persian styles can work in so many different spaces, and as you’ve probably noticed, kitchens are one of the hottest places you’ll find them. I love how they can work in a traditional, modern, or even a farmhouse style kitchen! Look how they just pop in these spaces…

And if one rug is great, think how great two might be! Rugs can be layered to create a beautiful look! You can even layer them over wall-to-wall carpet to update a living space as well. I’m thinking I might like a layering rug for our family room!

5. Non-traditional dining chairs. This is another trend that has actually become less of a trend and more of a staple in the design world. Gone are the days when everyone wants the perfect matching table and chair sets. Now, almost any combo can work when it comes to dining tables and chairs. I love spaces that combine traditional and modern styles or rustic and chic. Here are a few great examples, as well as a few sources for finding chairs like these to update your traditional table…
Look how great these lucite chairs look with these different table styles! These are so versatile because they just blend into the space, but you can also customize them with pillows! And they’re comfortable to sit in as well! Find a great deal on a pair of them HERE.

Another popular look is the comeback of the metal tub chair. These are available in lots of colors, too! Here is a great source for these here.

Want to lighten up the look of a dark table? Add light colored chairs, like was done in this space. I love the contrast!

6. Tropical Prints. If you’ve followed me for long, you know that I’ve taken this trend and run with it. I can’t help it– I love these prints! You may have seen how I used them on our screened porch…
In Lily’s room…

And most recently, in the girls’ bathroom! I love this shower curtain and that it comes in extra long! You can find it here.

And this cute duvet would make an adorable accent for many styles of bedding. Source for this here.
So there are a few more ideas to think about as you look for inspiration in using simple trends in your own home. The fun thing about decorating with trends is that you don’t have to commit to an entirely new look forever. Since there is not usually a large investment involved, you can keep it as long as you like, then pass it to the next person who would like it. But you never know–some of these “trends” may end up being permanent favorites that stick with you for a while! What are some of your favorites?

You’ve inspired me with the rugs and I’m going to purchase at least one this week. . .but would like a few more 🙂 I know you have said “yes” to accent walls but I can’t get my husband on board with them yet. . .;)
