DIY Acrylic Shelves and a Glam Memo Board (One Room Challenge Week 5!)
We are totally making some progress in Lily’s room as we near the finish line of the One Room Challenge! If you follow me on Instagram, you saw a few more sneak peeks of what we’ve been up to. This week, we added acrylic shelves and a glam memo board over the desk area, along with a few other elements I will save for the big reveal next week!
But for now, let me tell you about these shelves! These were exactly what I had envisioned in my mind, except when I was shopping for them, I couldn’t find these exact ones!

I had thought about this style as an option, which would have worked, but I wanted to see if I could get closer to my original plan.
Fortunately, our company not only does custom wall murals like I mentioned last week, but also works with acrylic for special projects, so I was able to get 2 shelves cut to the size I wanted.
Then, I found the perfect brackets at Hobby Lobby and painted them in my favorite Krylon Foil Metallic spray.
In just a few minutes, we had them hung and my vision came to life! I love that feeling!!
They’re just perfect for Lily’s little treasures.
As for the memo board, Lily wanted a dry erase board, so I resorted to the basic frame method I’ve done many times before. I started with this shadow box frame I had found on clearance at Marshall’s.
And then, to add a touch of glam that would still provide a blank background for writing, I used this reflective gold poster board from Hobby Lobby.
I just cut it to size and placed it in the frame, and it was done! One of the easiest projects ever!
These memo boards work perfectly with dry erase markers.
And with this cute acrylic swivel chair and desktop accessories from HomeGoods, the desk area is done!
I am sooo excited to show you the rest of this room next week!! Thanks for all your support so far! This is going to be fun!

The brackets came up beautifully with the gold paint, and the perspex shelves are a unique look 🙂 Well done – a vey inspirational desk area 😀
