Pumpkin Pie Thanksgiving Garland
We’re just days away from diving into the pumpkin pie, but if you’re looking for a little Thanksgiving craft to keep you busy ’til then, I’ve got just the thing! It’s a pumpkin pie felt garland, and it’s as easy as… yes, pie!
Only a few inexpensive supplies required, including orange felt, tan felt, twine, and either pom poms or something to make pom poms with. (I used this large white chenille stem from Hobby Lobby.
I also chose the thicker style of felt over the thinner. Still a steal at only 79¢ a sheet at Hobby Lobby. I only used one sheet of orange and 2 sheets of the tan.
Start by cutting the orange into triangles. I cut mine at approximately 3 1/2″ wide at the top and 4 1/2″ long.
Next, I cut the tan at the same angle, but longer, so it will extend past the top of the orange.
Using some hot glue, glue the pieces together.
From the tan felt, cut strips approximately 6 inches long to be used for the crust of the pie.
Next, cut a piece of twine to the length you want, and glue the twine across the top of each piece of the pie.
With the hot glue gun, add a strip of glue, and then place it over the twine on the pie, pinching it across the top to create a ruffled crust.
Last, it’s time to add the whipped cream. I made mine by cutting a short length of the wired chenille and bending it into a ball.
Glue on the pom with a little more hot glue, and repeat with each piece of pie…
It’s just the thing to get you by until you can have the real thing! Enjoy!

Julie, this is soo cute! I’ve been seeing those letter boards everywhere and I think I want one. I haven’t seen them at our Hobby Lobby, but then I haven’t been looking. I’ll keep my eyes open for them now!! Thanks for sharing!

Love this! How adorable! I’m running an art camp over Thanksgiving break for teens and preteens. My question to you is does the glue have to be with a hot glue gun or do you think we can use tacky glue and have it work the same?

I actually haven’t used tacky glue before! But it should be fine as long as it won’t leak through the felt. Good luck with your camp!
