Christmas Wreaths With a DIY Chalkboard Ribbon Banner
Maybe you noticed: I’m getting a little bit of a late start on Christmas décor around this house this year because I had a house full of some of my favorite people for Thanksgiving week and I’m into a lot of other things going on right now as well. But, my trees are up and the wreaths are now on the door, so let’s get this party started!
Due to my aforementioned busyschedule, I decided not to try to make a wreath from scratch like I have in years past, but instead I bought a couple of really great basic wreaths from some sweet Boy Scouts selling these outside of a store on Black Friday.
So, I hung them up using my favorite no-damage-to-the-door method I explained about here.
And since I got urge to add a chalkboard banner, I headed to Hobby Lobby on a search. I had a hunch that if I could find some matte black ribbon, it might just work as a chalkboard. And I found just the thing! This roll of basic black floral ribbon worked like a charm. This is not the satin ribbon normally found near fabric. This is the type used in floral arrangements and found near the floral department. Just write on it with regular old chalk, and if you want to erase, use a slightly damp cloth! The possibilities are endless, I tell you!
After tying on a classic red satin bow, I added the chalkboard ribbon and secured the ends to the wreath with a little floral wire.
Obviously, this will work best on wreaths that are under cover and protected from snow and rain.
What do you think? Are you thinking of a million ways to use this ribbon? And with 50% off this week, it’s 30 yards for only $3.50! You’re welcome.
There’s definitely no place like home for the holidays, and I’ve got to get busy on mine. More Christmas coming soon! How’s your decorating coming?
