DIY Border Stripe Curtain Panels from Canvas Drop Cloths
If you’ve been a reader of mine for awhile, you know how I love using canvas drop cloths in all kinds of décor. And when I was recently updating Melody’s room, I thought some drop cloth curtains would be perfect.
And the price could not have been better since Home Depot was running a special on a 2 pack of 6’x9′ ft cloths for only $11!
These are a great weight, so I didn’t even feel the need to line them. I just washed and dried them to soften them up a little. Then, I just measured the length I needed, allowing enough extra length at the top to fold down and sew to create a rod pocket.
After that, I just taped off the border stripe with blue painter’s tape, like I’ve done for my canvas rugs in the past.
And instead of using craft paint like I’ve done in the past, I used the same paint I used for the chandelier (Behr’s Poinsettia). I love this color!
I always thin the paint with a little water to make it go farther and make it easier to apply.
However, when I removed the tape this time, the paint had bled just a little, which is just one of those extra opportunities for creativity that present themselves so often during projects.
So, I sewed on a strip of jute ribbon (from Hobby Lobby), and I actually think they turned out even better than I had originally planned.
The total cost of each panel was around $7, and they’re the exact color we needed for the room! Totally beats trying to find the perfect color of fabric! And price is hard to match as well.
