My Television Debut (Just In Case You Missed It)
Facebook and Twitter followers, you may have already heard about this, but bear with me while I shamelessly relish in my 2 minutes of fame for just a little longer. I’m still excited about the latest opportunity I’ve been able to experience as a result of this blog. I’ve said before that it’s become the dream job I never knew I wanted, and now I love it even more.
A few weeks ago, one of our local TV news anchors contacted me and invited me to do a segment about DIY Christmas gifts on the early morning show. Without hesitation, I told her I would. Then it registered: Live. TV. With big cameras and lights. And I thought, “Eeek! Can I do this?”
But, my friends and family convinced me that I could, so early Friday morning, my husband drove me to the mall where they were shooting the Christmas special on location, and everything went as planned. Except that part where Santa didn’t show up on time and I had to go on a little early. But even that worked out because I got to see him afterward and snap a little pic.
It was kinda a big deal to me. Just one more opportunity I never expected to have as a result of a blog that I would never have the courage to write (or continue to write) if not for the support and encouragement of so many of my family and friends.
I got this text from my dad just minutes after the segment aired, and even if he and my mom were the only 2 watching me that morning, it would’ve been enough for me.
But, I’ve been overwhelmed by so many of you emailing, calling, and texting me to congratulate me on my little TV debut. I hope I get the chance to do more of it. I’d like to thank all of you who support me in my endeavors with this blog. And most of all, I want to thank the Lord for the opportunities and blessings He gives that are so far above what I deserve.
So, here’s the clip of the DIY gifts I shared (you’ve seen these before). I tried my best to keep the Southern accent under control, but that’s hard to do, y’all.

Thanks again, friends!
