It’s My Party and I’ll Be Surprised If I Want To
Last week when my best friend’s mom asked me to stop by her house to help her out with something, my husband volunteered to drive me and said we’d make a date of it and go eat somewhere afterwards.
In hindsight, I realize I should’ve been a little suspicious considering it was just 2 nights before my 40th birthday, but I was completely oblivious that there was a party waiting for me right up until I heard, “Surprise!” as I walked through the gate.
And there stood 5 of my closest friends, ready to help me celebrate.
I could see immediately that Denise (far left) had been the mastermind behind it all and that each of them had a hand in pulling it all together to make it perfect.
From the pink striped wrapping paper table cover to the fresh roses from the yard, to the chalkboard name tags and multi-colored tissue poms, the decorations were gorgeous!
And the menu tasted as good as it looked!
The poolside setting made it even more amazing.
We talked and laughed until it got dark. And I must’ve told them a hundred times how shocked I was, and it was totally true.
It’s been a month-long party around here, thanks to my husband, friends, and family. Turning 40 didn’t hurt one bit. I am truly blessed by every one of you and I can’t tell you enough how much I appreciate every big and little gesture. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
