Keep Calm and Party On: A Teen Boy’s Birthday Party
When my best friend, Denise, decided on a British theme for her son’s 16th birthday party, I knew it was going to be great. She’s a Party-Planner Extraordinaire with a great eye for detail. She made almost every part of the party décor using just paper, paint, fabric, and ribbon. It was an event creative minds like us can totally appreciate, so I took my camera along so you all could be inspired.
The invitation was a simple tag with a painted Union Jack and a stamped crown. All the details were printed on the back…
Cupcakes are just as great for boys’ parties as they are for girls. No cutting of a cake, and no forks required. The kids can just grab and go…
The little chip bags on a tray were one of my favorite touches. Denise made these by cutting the tops off of small paper bags from Hobby Lobby and painting on a Union Jack. Love those!
The same painting technique transformed the plain plastic cups into one-of-a-kind Union Jack drink ware.
And no British party would be complete without some buntings. Denise made hers from canvas, paint, and ribbon and strung them from the trees. Read all about making a basic bunting by clicking here.
And since every kid wants a photo booth with props at their party these days, she had that, too…
It was a great night. And I think it’s safe to say a “jolly good time” was had by all.
Denise pulled off yet another great party, securing her title of “Mom of the Year” for another year (at least according to her boys.)
Happy Birthday, Preston!
