Teacher Gift Idea: Personalized Sanitizer Bottle Wrap
Somehow another summer has passed, and in just a few days, it’ll be back to school for 3 of my kiddos. And while we may be knee-deep in school supplies and mile-long To-Do lists, we had to make time to make a teacher gift that’s both cute & functional, & I thought you might like to make one too! What does a teacher need more than a huge bottle of hand sanitizer? Nothing, in my book. And if you’re anything like me, you think this bottle is a beautiful thing…But, then again, if you’re like me, you can’t leave well enough alone & you think everything can be made a little cuter. That’s how I came up with this personalized sanitizer bottle wrap for Lily’s new teacher. Even sanitizer bottles can be chic with a little time & creativity.Want to make one, too? Just follow these instructions for a wrap that will fit that ginormous 40-oz bottle of Germ-X (sold at Wal-mart & online here):Start by cutting 2 pieces of solid-colored fabric measuring 6 1/2″ X 13 1/2″. I used scraps of canvas drop cloth (of course) because I love the stuff & I always have it on hand. For the teacher’s name, I used the freezer paper stenciling method described in this post. Remember to use a font with thick lines as it can get tricky to make a stencil for tiny lines or spaces. After the name is painted & dry, sew on some ribbon or trim, leaving room at the top & bottom for a 1/2″ seam allowance.Next, you’ll need one large hair elastic, cut in half, or 2 smaller hair elastics to create loops for the buttons. Sew the elastics onto one of the sides of the wrap, raw edges out. Then, sew the back of the wrap to the front of the wrap, right sides together, with a 1/2″ seam allowance, leaving a gap for turning inside out. After sewing, turn & press. Then, sew a finishing stitch all the way around the wrap. Try the wrap on for size & sew on the buttons…I decided to add a little ribbon flower by gathering one side of a ribbon, creating a ruffled circle, and sewing the ends together. Then, with the magic of my hot-glue gun, I added a matching covered button & stuck it on the wrap.Lily & I think this is cuter than just a plain ol’ sanitizer bottle. We’re hoping Mrs. Fox thinks so too!

I love your decorative sanitizer bottle. I'm a school teacher but I suppose if I want one of these I'll have to make it myself!

Why are you so incredibly crafty and talented. I have one of those ginormous bottles sitting right up in my room waiting to go the classroom next week and I would love to send it back to school in style – but I just don't see this happening..I am not talented and crafty!! Can I pay you to send some up this way – I'll gladly pay for all materials and shipping – 🙂 and then I can tell everyone at our school that I have an amazingly beautiful and talented and famous friend in Knoxville!! 🙂 I love ya!

I have made tons of these. Then I started having a problem finding the 40 oz. Germ X! So I started making them for the 30 oz. These are so simple and cute. Teachers LOVE these! Thanks so much for a great, easy-to-follow tutorial!
