My Curtain Debut
I have a thing for silk stripes. I think it’s my inner French girl. But anyway, it’s a good thing because as I told you the other day, my long-awaited living room curtains are hung and there is a lot a fabric in here now. I have to admit I was just a tad nervous as I was sewing all those yards that the stripes would turn this place into a circus tent, but now that they’re up, I love them. So, here are the pics I promised.First, my naked windows, in case you forgot what they looked like before. (Pay no attention to Cinderella’s dress in the floor.)
And here are the afters: 
The fabric is kind-of an oyster & olive stripe–a combination I love. I got it here. If you’re interested, I may post more on how I made these later. It won’t be the way Martha would have done them, but it is the way an experienced amateur like myself does them. Less-than-perfect, yet full of bliss.Sharing them at some of these places.

Julie-Those look great. I love olive and off-white too…and they are perfect for your room. Any way you can do them is fine-as long as they come out the way you want in the end. What does Martha know?? lol Hugs- Diana

Wow! What a great room! Love the new curtains and I'd love to hear how you made them. I bought a sewing machine a year ago and its collecting dust in the corner. My goal – curtains and pillows!

They look fantastic… I couldn't even tell they were striped until you pictured them close up… Super cute!! I would love for a tutorial on how you made them. I am needing to make curtains for my living and dining room but have never done it before… so I am always looking for a good help!! Thanks for sharing.

You cracked me up twice, once with Cinderella's dress and once with your circus tent comment. The fabric is a beautiful combination of colors and I don't think you can ever go wrong with silk! I wish you'd gotten a more close up shot of a window, your pictures didn't enlarge when I clicked on them. Okay, I'm done whining, I can see you have large dimensions in your room and tried to get good photos. Thanks so much for linking these lovelies.

Very pretty! They complete the room! I like how you hung them a little higher than the window to fill the space better.

What an amazing difference! I love how you hung them higher than the windows, it makes the room feel taller. It really warmed up the space. Beautiful job!
