Quick and Easy Homemade Cinnamon Rolls
‘Tis the season for a quick and easy recipe that doesn’t take a ton of valuable time, tastes delicious, and totally makes the house smell like Christmas! It’s the perfect cure for a little holiday (or any day!) baking fix! My daughter, Lily, and I whipped some of these up to share here on the blog recently and I hope you love them like we do!
These ingredients are so simple! Here’s all you’ll need:
- a 1 lb package of refrigerated pizza dough (we get ours at Kroger in the deli department)
- a half stick of butter
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
and for the icing…
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- around 5 tsp milk
Start by letting your pizza dough rest in the bag at room temperature for 15 minutes or so while you prepare your filling! Preheat the oven to 375° and grease the bottom of a 9 inch baking pan. Mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and combine well. Then soften the butter so it’s ready for easy spreading.
On a clean work surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle that’s approximately 15 inches wide by 12 inches high.
Next, spread the softened butter all over the surface of the dough.
Next, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture all over the butter, leaving the bottom edge of the dough unsprinkled so it can seal up easily.
Next, start rolling the dough and press the edge to seal it up.
Transfer the roll to a protected surface and cut the roll into 1-inch sections, creating your rolls!
Place the rolls in your pan with sides touching. At this point you can bake right away or choose to cover them with plastic wrap and let them rise on the counter for an hour or so if you would like a little larger rolls. Yields 15 rolls.
Bake at 375° for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
While they’re baking, mix up the icing by adding the milk to the powdered sugar and stirring until smooth.
Then, just drizzle the icing over the baked rolls and you’re done! These are best fresh from the oven, but will keep pleasing the crowds for a couple days after as well. Makes a great Christmas morning breakfast! Enjoy!

They look yummy! Try using dental floss, sliding it under the rolled dough, and criss-crossing to cut the rolls. No squishing or lost filling.
