Nashville: Not Just For Country Music Lovers Anymore
Several weeks ago, Dave & I got the chance to take a last-minute getaway, so we headed to Nashville for a couple of days. It was a lot of fun & if you’ve never been to Nashville, let me tell ya, it’s more than just Music City.We stayed at the very cool Hutton Hotel. Loved the location and the decor…AND they had monogrammed slippers. Loved it. Because everyone needs slippers in a hotel room. Anyway, Nashville also has great restaurants. If you’re a fan of authentic diners, eat breakfast here:It was definitely for real. But, our favorite thing in Nashville was the unique shopping. While we were in the 8th Avenue Antique District, we came across an awesome shop called Preservation Station. It’s a huge store packed full of architectural antiques. It was like an original Restoration Hardware..and every piece is authentic. And old. (Sorry the pics aren’t the best–I didn’t bring my good camera. We were sneaking around taking pictures with our phones, hoping not to get kicked out.)They have awesome windows…And hundreds of doors, neatly organized by size…Huge light fixtures…And hundreds of gorgeous door knobs & door plates…This is the workshop in back where all the pieces are cleaned up & restored:This is a must-see in Nashville. Click here to visit their website & find out more about them. Along with great antiques, Nashville also has some of our other faves such as Anthropologie, West Elm, and great clothing boutiques.(I’d love to have this yellow sofa for my library. I’d even settle for a chair in this color. Anyone seen one?)But, if you make your way to Nashville, you really must travel south a few miles to Franklin. Everyone who’s been there is agreeing with me. Downtown Franklin is full of great shops & restaurants. My favorite shop was The Iron Gate. Check out their site here to see a few of the things they sell online.Loved this sign in one of the shops:And I picked up this cute guy browsing around in another shop…So, Nashville & Franklin are now on our list of great places to visit & if you’re heading there anytime soon, be sure to check these places out. And if country music is your thing, well, there’s plenty of that, too! Have you been to Nashville? What do you love about it?

Nashville holds a special place in our hearts! Adam and I started out in Nashville and we just loved it there. We often talk about moving back there if it weren't for our wonderful church home we have here. Thanks for sharing some of your favorite spots, the antique stores were amazing.

What a great post about Nashville, I live less than two hours away from 'Music City' and I love the state I live in. There are so many great places about this state and I really loved that your post showcased some of these places, and Franklin is such a beautiful community. Thanks for this post I may have to do one of my own about some of the great areas we have.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for the nod to Franklin. We love our community and are quite spoiled by the great shopping and restaurants. If any of your readers want to find out more about Franklin, they should visit http://www.historicfranklin.com. We have several Main Street events throughout the year that make visiting even more fun. We do love our music, but there's so much more. Ya'll come visit for a while!
