Thinking Outside the Black & Giveaway Winner Announced
I love Craigslist. I’ve sold all kinds of things on Craigslist. One time I sold a stroller within 2 hours of listing it. How can you not love that? However, I had never bought anything on Craigslist until just a few weeks ago. I only had to search for a couple days when I scored a table & four chairs for my screened porch. They weren’t in the best shape, but it was still a deal for only $25. Here’s what the table looked like when we brought it home. Faded Forest Green. As soon as I saw it, I pictured it in my favorite basic black. (I know– it looks black in this picture.)
And then I had a revelation. What if I painted it another color other than black? What if I painted it Robin Egg Blue? I planned to look for 6 small chairs to go around it so the whole family can eat together alfresco. And when I found some espresso folding cafe chairs, I thought maybe the blue could actually work.
So, I took the chance, and went for it. On the advice of some experts, we used oil paint. Specifically, we used Valspar Anti-Rust Gloss Enamel in the color “High Noon” from Lowes.
It was definitely a little more of a hassle to clean up the oil paint as opposed to latex, but I love how the finish turned out.
It was fun to change it up & use a fun color for this project. But don’t think I’ve totally given up the black. More projects in black coming soon! What have you not painted black recently?
As usual, I’m linking to these great parties. Check them out!

I LOVE the blue! I'm so glad you painted it another color rather than black. I think a lot of people love color but are wary to use it on a major project. Great job!
Thanks for the comment on my blog. :o)
