Where to Stay in the Cotswolds
If you’re looking for the perfect stay as a cozy spot to come home to after touring the beauty that is the Cotswolds (officially know as the AONB– Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), I have found it! Click here if you missed yesterday’s post about the drives and villages. When we were searching for a place to stay that would be convenient to the Cotswolds as well as Blenheim Palace and Oxford, we found this!
We spent 2 nights here at the cutest boutique hotel pub on the banks of the Thames at the Trout at Tadpole Bridge. If the thought of sleeping in a bedroom at a pub makes you raise an eyebrow, tuck those doubts away with your American passport and get ready for a fantastic English countryside experience.
This hotel had me from the moment we crossed the actual bridge and pulled in to the lot.

As we stepped into the door, we were greeted like they were expecting us and shown through the cozy restaurant, out through the courtyard and into our rooms.

Because this inn sleeps only 2 per room, we got 2 rooms to accommodate the 3 of us and each of them was absolutely full of charm. The beds were not only dressed well, they were very comfortable, which is sometimes a challenge to find when traveling.

Attention to detail was clear in this decor with books and plants and even a retro-style radio playing when we entered.

The bathroom was small in our room, but still totally comfortable and even had a window and heated towel rack.

There was a tray available with coffee, tea, a jar of cookies, and some local milk.

The courtyard was a cute spot to walk out onto and just past the grass was the river.

Because we were ready for dinner when we first arrived, they sat us immediately at a cozy table where we had some delicious food.

And breakfasts in the morning were also amazing and were included in our stay. They set out an amazing buffet of juices, pastries, fruits, granola, and more, and also handed us menus to choose a hot entree to go with it and served homemade smoothies as an appetizer. I absolutely loved the personal coffee pots they give to keep your coffee hot!

They also had hot chocolate which we got one day…

And croissants were a must every day on this trip…

As we left, I knew I would be sharing this stay for you all because it was such a fun and cozy place that is right in the vicinity of the best drives and sights. This inn is also a part of a network of Butcombe boutique inns which I am guessing would all be great. Hope this helps you in planning a trip to the English countryside!
