This Banner Over Me Screams Love
Countdown to Valentine’s Day: Day 7!
Yes, the countdown to Valentine’s Day continues! The two or three of you who have been following this from the beginning are saying by now: Wow…she…really…is…crazy about Valentine’s Day. And, yes, yes I am.
Today’s post is another how-to. If you’re a blog hopper, you’ve probably seen at least 14 Valentine’s banners by now, but just in case you don’t know how to make one, I’ll show you.
I made mine with various scrapbook papers from my collection. (I used to be a scrapbooker before the guilt from being so far behind almost did me in, so now I just “collect” supplies. It’s fun!) So, anyway, I got several different colors & patterns of paper, a coordinating ribbon (about 3 yards), my paper trimmer, & double-stick tape.
I then cut 7 triangles out of the papers I wanted to make the little pennants. Mine measure approximately 6-1/2″ across the top & 9-1/2″ down the sides.
After that, I cut hearts out of coordinating papers & stuck them on each pennant.
Lastly, I sewed each pennant onto the ribbon using a zig-zag stitch. And that is it, y’all! The hardest part of this project was trying to get it hung where I wanted it. These banners are great for other holidays or birthdays, too. Have fun making yours!
This morning we had our random drawing to choosea winner for the Rose Pin Giveaway. And the winner is:”The Happy Homemaker”Congratulations to her!

This banner is darling! A question about sewing through paper: does it dull your sewing machine needle? When I was little, my mom always insisted that I not use her sewing scissors on paper because it would dull the blades–didn't know if the same applied to needles!!

Amy, That's a good question. I am also a stickler for not using my sewing scissors on paper, but I'm not sure about the needles. If you did a lot of sewing thru paper, I'm sure it may dull the needle, but I didn't notice a difference for a small project like this. Thanks!
