A Preppy Fall Makeover for My Seasonal Shelves
My fall crush on preppy style has spread from the front door to the breakfast room, for my seasonal vignette on my cafe shelves.
My newly “found” vintage thermos and 4-H trophy from one of my favorite local shops were the perfect inspiration pieces…
{love!}
Then I added a little chalkboard art using one of my favorite chalkboard methods…
And our family initial book was inspired by these Library Letters from Anthropologie.
When I spent my dollar on the perfect book at a yard sale and traced the “R” onto it, I handed it over to Dave and asked if he’d “cut it out real quick,” thinking it would be a cinch.
Well, it wasn’t quite as simple as that. But, after several clamps, a jigsaw, a Dremel, some hand cutting, and a lot of determination, he got it done for me (thanks, Honey!). If you’ve found an easier way to do these, we’d love to hear it!
But the mini deer head was a much simpler project.
I found a deer head Christmas ornament from Hobby Lobby, along with a 79¢ wood plaque that I painted green. Then, I just gave it a good glue gun treatment and hung it with a little ribbon in a frame of blue stripes.
I might just keep him around through Christmas!
The mini trophies were a fun score from Marshall’s.
And I had to have a few paper leaves on a branch just because I love them.
A little blue painter’s tape works great for holding them on the wall.
Hope you like the look! If you want to see the fall look for these shelves from previous years, click here, here, and here!
I’m sharing with a few of these friendsand Centsational Girl’s Fall Party.
I’m pulling together more fall décor around the house, as I’m sure many of you are!
What’s your decorating style this fall?

I love the mix of the plaid thermos with the trophy! I saw a brass horse riding trophy at Goodwill last week, this just made me wish I had gotten it!
Love your styling!
Best,
Krista
