A Real Day in my Life (Part 2)
Has it really been a year already since I shared a day in my life last year?? In a way it seems like just a few months ago, but then again, as I sat down to write about what my day looks like, I realized I was about to say all the exact same things that I said back then… so I guess that means I am both losing my memory and also very much a creature of habit. So, to see Part One of what my day typically looks like, check it out here!
This time around, I’m sharing a few more aspects of my typical routine, and joining up with these fun bloggers as they share theirs as well!
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Julie! I’ve been blogging here from my home in Tennessee for almost 9 years now! I have a husband, 4 kids, and a fluffy white dog who is sweet most of the time. My two oldest kids are away at college right now (a son and daughter), and I have two more girls at home!
My day still starts at 6:00 a.m. My two girls at home, who are now in 6th and 10th grades, do a fabulous job of getting themselves ready for school as Dave and I lend a little assistance, have some coffee, and still start our day off all together with a little Bible reading and prayer so we can all be ready for life to attack as soon as we walk out the door!
On a typical day, I am home working while they’re off to school and work! I do my own Bible study and prayer once everything is quiet, and if I don’t do that for some reason that day– I promise you my day just does not go nearly as well!! By the way– I highly recommend this book for explaining why it’s so important to meet with God for a special time every day! It will change your life! (Click here for my affiliate link.)
After that come the phone calls and answering emails and starting my blog work for the day.
As I shared before, I normally work right here from the kitchen island when I’m home alone, but I do work from my pretty desk space in my room when the house is louder and I need a place to think! On this particular day, I was doing a photo shoot of the recently updated mudroom and working on that post!
Like every mom, I am also usually simultaneously doing laundry, cooking, listening to music or a TV show, and maybe checking off several other items off the to-do list as well!
On this day, my husband texted to ask me to meet him for lunch, which he often does, so like I almost always do, I just put a hold on everything and went to meet him– basically just because I’m crazy about him.
After lunch, I stopped in at Goodwill just to see if they had anything interesting that I could use for some of my upcoming projects, and I scored this perfect gem of canvas art for only 79 cents! This will be re-made into something beautiful before you can say “You had me at bacon.” Stay tuned for that coming soon!
After that, I ran over to Hobby Lobby, as I am known to do up to 2 or 3 times a week… this time to grab a few things for a fall wreath update.
On this stop, I did get a little surprise as I was perusing all the fall merch… I spotted some new placemats for sale that look so similar to some I’ve seen before…
Do these look familiar to anyone else because they remind me of my free placemat printables that I shared here on the blog last year…
Maybe it’s just crazy coincidence, or maybe it’s just another day in the life of a blogger. We do all of this to inspire… to give our readers ideas that they can implement on their own. And occasionally we do see our ideas pop up in unexpected places! By the way, my free printables are still available right HERE.
After Hobby Lobby, I was off to get my girls and hear all about their day at school. When we got home, I went out on the front porch to work on my wreaths because, as you may know, I like to just embellish them right where they are without even taking them off the doors! But on this day, the 90 degree heat had me sweating like crazy so I decided I’d put a hold on that. (You may have caught that episode on my Instagram story!)
Dinner with the family is another part of our day that we rarely ever miss doing together, whether we’re at home or on the go, and I highly recommend that routine for everyone! It’s the perfect time to regroup, discuss our day, laugh, (and maybe sometimes cry) together! Find this recipe for this quick and easy pasta dish HERE.
And sometimes, at the end of the day, I even get to squeeze in a quick coffee date with some girlfriends!
You will not hear me complain about my blogging job. I have often said that this is the job I always dreamed of but never existed when I was growing up and being asked what I want to be when I grew up! And while I definitely am not getting rich from the income from this job, I am greatly enriched in so many other ways– most of which involves making new friends with my readers and getting to know y’all better! Thanks so much to those of you who have become a part of my life here and to those who have let me in to yours!
Please go and visit all these great girls who blog at these great sites who are also sharing a glimpse of their lives with all of us today!

I bought these placemats a couple of months ago and thought of you because I used yours last year! Someone at Hobby Lobby is watching you and being inspired! Love it all. Looking forward to the new wreath!

This post was such an enjoyable read. I really love the idea of Bible reading with the kids before the day officially begins!

I made your placemats last year as well. Everyone loved them, I had so many compliments! I used clear plastic plates so you could still see the placemat underneath. I will be making them again, I personally like yours better!!

I loved learning about you and your day, Julie, we try to do the same at dinner time as well! Such an important part of being a family! I also adore your placemats – which are much nicer than the ‘knock-offs’ by the way!! So fun to tour with you! xo

Hobby Lobby just got busted, didn’t they? I’m not sure if I’d be flattered or furious, but as always, you are taking the high road.
Thanks so much for sharing a glimpse into your day, Julie, as you work and care for your lovely family.
XO, Christy
