Easy Leaf Garland (Fall Into the Holidays, Week 3)
Getting a jump on the holidays and making the most of being present in the upcoming seasons are two of my main goals right now! That’s why I’m loving being a part of the Fall Into the Holidays series with Lisa at Shine Your Light and several other blogger friends. In case you’ve missed the first two weeks, find them here and here. This week, we’re talking living and family rooms, so I’m sharing my simple Thanksgiving mantel that can transition very easily to Christmas!
I’m a huge fan of garlands, and I’ve been wanting to make this simple leaf garland for awhile, so I finally took the opportunity to got for it and I am loving it! You may have seen this done before– there is a great little version of it here at The House That Lars Built. I made it the simplest way possible using green construction paper.
I just made a little leaf pattern in the size I wanted, then folded a couple sheets in half long ways to be able to cut four leaves at a time, then just started cutting!
In about an hour, I had about 175 leaves!
Then, I just sat down and sewed them, overlapping them a little here and there with a little space in between.
And in about 20 minutes, I had about 24 feet of garland!
I’m already thinking of the many ways to use this all year round!
With just a little “thankful” banner from the Target Dollar Spot and a few white pumpkins, the mantel is ready for Thanksgiving.
Be sure to check out all these other bloggers to see what great ideas they have to share this week!

Julie! This is such a cute garland! I need to learn how to sew so I can make one of these. I totally agree that it will work so well from one holiday to the next. Also I love how the green picks up on the colors in your beautiful painting next to the fireplace. This room is gorgeous.

Thanks so much, Lisa! I do think it’s funny how the construction paper works well with the colors in this room! Who knew?! 🙂
