Teen Basement Hangout Design Plan

Well, I guess my husband and I had so much fun on our recent powder room makeover that we decided we should update one more room before the busyness of the holidays! I came across this cool modular sectional recently, we both loved it, and before we knew it, I had a new design for the kids’ hangout room in the basement. Since we have never done much to this space since we moved in 8 years ago, I guess we are a little overdue. Plus, our younger kids are using it more and more as they get older and have friends over. And it’s great for our older kids and their college friends who come to visit as well! Here’s how it has looked for the past several years…
Besides the sectional, which I love because it can be reconfigured in several ways, including for extra sleeping space for guests, we are keeping a few pieces we have in this space, and adding a few more. The bright green console is a piece I rescued from a thrift store and painted way back when, and it’s still perfect for storage and functionality as well as design, so it’s staying! We also have an air hockey table and a treadmill that will both stay as well.
We do have another element we are in the process of planning, which will not be a huge surprise if you’ve been following my past few room makeovers! So stay tuned for that!
As for the rest of the pieces in the design plan, I’m sharing the sources for these pieces or similar ones in the links below! I hope you’ll be following along to see our process and final reveal coming soon!
