Lily’s Bold and Bright Bedroom: The One Room Challenge Reveal!
It feels like I’ve been waiting forever to finally share the big reveal of Lily’s new room, and now the day is finally here!! (Big thanks to Calling it Home, House Beautiful and the other sponsors of this challenge!) I know I say this every time I re-do a room, but welcome to my new favorite room in the house…
In these past weeks, we’ve brought her room from a sweet garden theme…
to a blank white canvas…
to a completely new look!
Bold color has made itself at home in this space, with the key player being the floral wall mural. This is a custom wall covering that I chose and designed with the help of my husband from Wunderwall murals. Visit their site to see all their gorgeous wall coverings or customize your own design!
Not only did we do the bold floral, but I felt the room needed a few stripes as well, so on the opposite wall, we did a black and white striped wall covering! This was a lot quicker and simpler than painting!
This portion of the wall was bumped out a few inches, so it was the perfect area for a section of stripes.
And here’s the red mirror that I made over for this room! I love how the reflection of the floral mural makes it look like a piece of art!

On this same wall, we made a gallery to display some favorite pieces, as well as some of Lily’s own designs! The painting of Scout is so special to us, and was done by my friend Samantha of Boho Dreamer Studio. She is an amazing artist, and creates custom paintings of all kinds of subjects! Be sure to check her shop out here to see her work!
I also found a great way to let Lily display some of her own work and switch it out by hanging these wall grid organizers. (Find them for a great deal here!)
We also used some basic white clipboards we found from HomeGoods.

One of my absolute favorite elements of the room is the chandelier. I’ve loved it since the moment it arrived, and it works perfectly in this space! Plus, the price was better than any of this style I could find! Click HERE for the source.
The first request Lily had made for her room was to have these flamingo sheets, so that’s sort-of where we started. (Sheets available via affiliate link here.) The dotted pillowcase also available here. And the duvet set is the perfectly classic white with just a little embroidery on the sham. Just what I wanted! And the price cannot be beat. Source for the set is here. The banana leaf pillow was the touch of color we wanted, and I sewed it using fabric I found here. (Such a great deal right now!)
The tufted headboard was also a great deal! So much so, that the twin size is currently unavailable, but it does come in queen for a great deal here. The tassel throw for the end of the bed was a clearance find from West Elm, and unfortunately I think it’s sold out as well!
The gold lamp, however, is still available for now! I paired it with a black shade with gold lining and it was just perfect! My affiliate links for the lamp and shade are HERE and HERE.
The small mirrored tray and gold frame were both from Marshall’s.
The bookshelf to the left of the bedside table is one of everyone’s favorite parts of Lily’s room, because it’s not just any bookshelf. It’s actually a door to a secret room!
We had our builders to add this finished space when we built the house, and there’s actually a door from Abby’s room that leads in here as well! It’s a favorite hangout with friends and cousins, for sure!
On the other side of the room is the desk space I shared previously, which Lily has already put to good use. Read more about the details of the desk and shelves here and here.
If you follow me on Instagram (which I would love for you to!), you saw the sign I designed for Lily as a finishing touch.
Not only did it add the design element I wanted for above the book case, I love the quote by Audrey Hepburn, and I think it’s totally fitting for Lily.
She’s truly a sweet and also very creative soul who was a big part of helping me with the design of her room. It was a joy to do this for her, and she is very excited to share the results with all of you!
Thanks so much for all your support along this One Room Challenge journey this time around. It has been so much fun, once again! I would love to hear your feedback on the final reveal, and as always, let me know if you have questions, and I’ll try to answer!

Oh my goodness, Julie! This room is spectacular! I haven’t even looked at the other rooms from the challenge yet, but I already know yours is my favorite! That wall covering is so striking and I can’t believe you made it yourself…I mean, I can because you’re so creative…but wow! I love every detail, and how you incorporated the things your daughter picked out. I adore that quote, too. This inspires me to want to get back to work finishing my little trailer; just seeing this room and your work reminds me of the joy of creating. Congrats!

When I first started following your blog, your Lily was just a little girl. Now she’s so grown up and has a new beautiful room that suits her! I love to decorate, but always feel paralyzed when it comes to the kids’ rooms. Thanks for inspiring me with this lovely, colorful makeover!

[…] Another creative and unique solution is to hang a grid on your wall, like this one that is perfect to clip up papers, schedules and photos. You can see more about creating something like this HERE. […]
