The Great White
In all the excitement about my trip and wanting to share it all with you, I haven’t gotten around to telling you the big news. That little souvenir I mentioned I found on our trip to Atlanta recently? It’s here.
And I have to admit I did have a crazy feeling in my gut when it first arrived that was somewhere between “EEEkk! I’m so excited!” and “What on earth have I done?”
After all, it was a semi-spontaneous decision made under the pressure of my kids and husband who saw my lingering gaze in the showroom as their cue to bring on the sudden barrage of reasons why we really needed this sofa. That, combined with the fact that Home Decorator’s Collection was having a huge sale plus totally free shipping did have me revisiting my dream of a white sofa.
And all the way home, I rehearsed in my mind again that never-ending debate over beauty v. practicality. But, in the end, beauty won.
Light prevailed over the dark.
{Remember my dark leather?}
And the Riemann Curved Tufted Sectional in Microsuede Pearl became the jewel of the living room. Now the room is totally opened up and feels so much brighter.
At 12 feet long, it does take up a little space (ahhemm), but the good news is, all 6 of us can fit very comfortably with room to spare!
I’m keeping my eyes peeled for a couple new chairs and just the right table to replacemy beloved tufted ottomanI made which isn’t quite right with the new sofa.

Love it! Can't wait to see it in person. Don't worry – I'll leave my dark wash jeans at home.

You are my hero! I wen't couch shopping this weekend and didn't find ANYTHING that I loved. Your couch looks like a perfect fit for a family of six and the shape is just awesome. I'm so glad that I didn't settle yesterday on a couch that I just kind of liked. I'm ordering my new couch right now. I LOVE IT!!!

This is beautiful! We are likely planning to order one of these soon (since there is free shipping again!) I'm curious though if you happened to see both of the other colors in the showroom. There isn't time to order a swatch before the sale ends, and we are struggling with whether the mocha will be too dark/boring. We are also replacing a dark leather sofa, but I have two toddlers, so I think the white is out of the question. The blue seems a little bold for us, but I'm curious how you would describe the color. Thanks for your help!

I know this is a tough decision for you, having not seen the fabrics in person. I do not recall much about the mocha swatch as it wasn't what I was looking for, but I would say it's very comparable to what leather would be in a room as far as dark v. light. The blue is not a color I feel would be too bold, but rather just more limiting when it comes to what colors can be used with it. The blue itself is a very nice blue. One suggestion that might help you if you are concerned with the sofa being too dark or drab would be to lighten it up with throw pillows. It really can help make a difference. That's always a good solution when your home needs to be kid friendly. Good luck with your decision! We are loving ours!

LOVE this couch! Since you've had the couch for about 3 months now, how are the cushions holding up? Would it be comfortable enough for a 230 lb husband to lounge? 🙂

The couch is holding up well so far & very comfortable. It's pretty large as well, so I would think it'd be just fine for your hubby 🙂

I've been looking at this couch in the blue – could you give me some idea of the size of the room you have the couch in? I'm trying to decide if it will overwhelm the room I'd like to put it in. And I have seen the blue couch in person and the color is a very muted blue-green – more blue than green. I'd love white but I also have kids and dogs and not sure it would survive 🙂

The blue is very nice, too. The sofa takes up a 6' x 12' area of space, including the curve. Hope that helps you!

I have been eyeing this couch for a year! With only being able to see photos I couldn't possibly know if it would have been a 'good one' or not, however. Would you be willing to give an update as to how the white is holding up? We have five children and a dog and the white slipcovered couch I currently have needs constant washing. 🙁

Still loving it! I must add that we are very careful with it, as in we don't really eat or drink on it, just to be safe. We don't have a dog, so I'm not sure how that would enter the equation. But, I've been assured the micro suede is easy to clean, so we'll see! Good luck with your decision!

I was looking for reviews about this sofa and came across your blog. Now that you have had it for a bit, can you tell me how well it has stood up? Is it still comfortable? Are the cushions sagging or still firm? How do stains clean up (or do I need to scotch guard it) and does it stay put or do the pieces tend to shift apart on the wood floor? I don’t like the idea of purchasing online without actually seeing or sitting on the piece and as it is going in our family room and will get daily use, I need to make sure it will be a piece we can use for years to come. Thank you!!

All great questions! The short answer is that I still love it! The cushions are a softer style. Not necessarily super-firm when we got the sofa, and I’d say it’s about the same now. The fabric does crinkle up when it’s sat on for awhile, but I flip the cushions every month or so & that helps. We have no stains whatsoever, & any small spot that has occurred, I have been able to get out with a baby wipe. We did put some rubber feet under each of the feet of the sofa to prevent sliding apart on the wood floor. I hope this helps you!

Thank you, Julie. I have one more question. I have read that microsuede fabrics soak up body oils which stain the sofa and over time the fabric will darken. Have you experienced this?

Wow. I’ve been looking at this sofa for awhile now and was wondering how a like color would work with my teens. Man……II really want to brighten my room also.
