Our Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies
I’ve mentioned before that sometimes I write this blog as a journal to myself as much as to other people. And today, I’m adding this recipe for our favorite chocolate chip cookies so I can find it quickly and easily anytime I get the urge to make them. And I think you’ll like them, too.
When Lola asks me to make cookies “out of scratch”, I know these are the ones she means. We first got this recipe from the package of Laura Lynn brand chocolate chips, which is the store brand of our favorite grocery store. They’re nothing fancy or supremely original, but they are delicious. And since everyone needs a good go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe, I’m sharing this one.
Real Chocolate Chip Cookies
2-1/4 cups plain flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 large eggs
1- 12 oz package semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375º. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. In a larger bowl, combine butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla. Beat until creamy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Gradually add flour mixture. Mix well before stirring in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 7-9 minutes. Yield: approx. 6 dozen 2″ cookies.

Yum! That's exactly like my recipe (off the Nestle Toll House bag!) except mine only calls for 1 t. of vanilla. Next time I'm going to add a little more, and I can't resist putting pecans in mine! I think I know what tomorrow's after school snack will be! 🙂
