Say “hello” to your next snack addiction. And before you say you don’t need another addiction, you should know this one is actually nutritious and won’t de-rail your plans to get in shape before swimsuit season.
A friend of mine in Spain/Morocco recently posted about her love of Roasted Chick Peas on Facebook and they sounded so good, I had to try them for myself. (Thanks, Gretchen!) I was thinking maybe this was some fabulous recipe from Morocco that had not yet made its way into our American kitchens, but as I searched around a little, I found that everyone from Rachel toOprahhas been talking about them.
So, I’m a little behind. But, just in case you’ve been out of the loop with me, here’s how to make them:
You’ll need some cans of chick peas (also known as Garbanzo beans). I say some cans because, trust me, you’ll want more than one can if you’re sharing these with anyone.
Just drain and rinse them under water…
Then pick out any hulls you may see.
Pat them dry with a paper towel, then pour them out onto a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil, rolling them around a little to coat.
Then, just place them in the oven at 450 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes until they’re slightly crunchy and sprinkle on your favorite seasoning. I used a little Seasoned Salt, but you can use anything from popcorn seasoning, parmesan cheese, or even cinnamon sugar, depending on how many calories you’re willing to add.
Give these a try and tell me what you think. I’m craving them again just writing this post, so I’m off to make some more.
Sharing with a few of these friends.
