I Don’t Feel Guilty
Nope, I don’t feel guilty for buying my new dining chairs from an actual store instead of picking them up off the side of the road like I did this piece.
I mean, after all, it has been a year since we found our dining table on Craigslist for less than the price of a good pair of shoes.
And I have looked high and low for some really cheap chairs that I could makeover kinda like I did these, but they were just nowhere to be found.
So when I found two matching upholstered, oval back, tufted chairs at Ross, I knew I couldn’t pass them up. And, no, I didn’t feel guilty because they were such a great deal.
And then, since these Madeleine chairs in the Burnt Oak finish from Restoration Hardware were just the complimentary style and finish I was wanting to go with the upholstered chairs, and I could get a set of 6 that matched, I just had to order. And I didn’t feel guilty because, after all, they were on sale.
Nope, I’m not feeling guilty because now our family & friends can sit on real chairs in the dining room instead of folding chairs from the back porch.
No, there’s no guilt for this girl for dipping into my savings account for 8 chairs that still cost less than just one of these little beauties I pinned to my Pinterest from Horchow. (oh, but aren’t they gorgeous?)
No, I’m not feeling guilty.
Every girl needs to splurge a little sometime. What have you splurged on lately?

I found the exact 2 chairs at my Ross a couple months back and love them. I am also looking at those chairs but in a barstool. Great taste!

I pretty much have that same dining table and would never have thought to put a light colored chair with it. Just wonderful. Lucky you! I splurged on a leather winter jacket this week! Yay me.

You are one smart splurger! I say remove the word "guilt" from our vocabulary!. Something that is done with thought, style and and a sale, can never be bad!

Oooh, they are lovely!!
It's not really a splurge, but I bought a tine of Annie Sloan's chalk paint in Provence – that brings me to 3 colours, I'd like them all!!

Timeless, heirloom quality furniture is priceless!
I am really a Craigslist girl. Even so, I have spent more than I have been comfortable with on a few items!
My splurge will come into focus when I pay the upholsterer for my cheeap-o Craigslist furniure finds! Still way less than retail, though!

I splurged on a dress and heals the other day. I have never spent $60 on myself for one outfit before.

Oh my that dining room is so beautiful! I love those chairs from restoration hardware! My daughter bought two similar chairs at Steinmart of all places and they are super comfortable. You did good! Buying retail keeps the economy going and and people have jobs because of it, so you did your part! Love, love the whole look.

No guilt… if they work then go for it.. in my world as long as you can pay cash then it is ok.. it is when you hit the CC's that things start to go very wrong.

Enjoy every minute of your indulgence! You work so hard and you deserve to splurge every once in a while. I haven't had the opportunity to splurge lately, but I am having fun dreaming up future splurges – like new chandeliers to replace the monstrous ones in our new home:)

Your dining room is wonderful. I too splurged on new antique inspired French dining chairs~ I was tired of friends and family sitting on squeaky antique ones! Chairs are some of those pieces you need to look good as well as function too! 🙂 Thanks for sharing at Feathered Nest Friday! 🙂

Great job on your dining room and the mix of chairs make it perfect. My motto Save and Splurge……I just picked up a dining set I found online and I have 2 of the Madeleine chairs……which I'll pair up with the 6 from the set.

I have your dining room post as an inspiration for the dining room redesign I am doing now. I love how you mixed the wood. I am glad to hear that the chairs from RH are comfortable. They are on sale right now plus an extra $100 off for every $500 you spend. Sale ends on Nov. 29th. Also love the legs on your sideboard table.

How have your Madeleine chairs held up? We use our dining room several times a week and my 3 year grandson and his family live with us. Do you think they will stand up to the spills and wear?

Beautiful dining room! I've had my eye on these chairs for a while and I'm thinking of splurging as well. I would love to hear from someone who has them how they have held up though. I've seen knock off versions in stores and they always have splintered wood pieces and cracks. Have you been happy with the RH ones so far? Thanks so much!

Hi there!
I'm contemplating buying these Madeline chairs from Restoration Hardware. Would you mind sharing how they've held up over the years? It drives me crazy that you can't find reviews of anything from RH. If I'm going to spend that much money, I want to be sure it will be worth it. If you can let me know I would be SO appreciative! Thanks! lillymoeding@gmail.com

Your dining room looks great! How awesome to find chairs to match the set you purchased at Ross also! I am contemplating purchasing the same chairs from Restoration Hardware–please update on how they've held up over the last few years, it's hard to find reviews online of these. Thanks!

Hi, Andrea–
These chairs have held up perfectly for close to 3 years now. We do not use our dining room on a daily basis, but mainly for company & special occasions, which averages out to every other week or so, I would guess!

Hello Julie. I love what you created. Your style is beautiful. What color did you used on the trim? and is it the same as the ceiling?
Blessings always,
