This is the first post in a new series I’m planning to post on Thursdays. Like many of you, I have a collection of lessons learned throughout my life. Some things I’ve learned from other people’s experiences. Some from my own. Some of these things are happy, some are sad. But all of them, I want to remember. And maybe some of them will help one of you.
One thing I know for sure is that Target is the best place I know to get free sanity.
I have four kids. My oldest two are now 13 & 11. They were born 19 months apart. When they were little, there were days I would literally smile at my husband when he walked in the door from work & say “Here they are. They’re all yours.”
And I’d be halfway down the road before he had a chance to say, “Ok, Honey! See ya later!”
He didn’t ever have to ask where I was going. And he wasn’t worried I wasn’t coming back. He knew I just needed time. Time to drive in a car without someone crying behind me. Time to walk into Target without having to hoist someone into a germ-encrusted shopping cart. Time to browse the aisles without having to retrace all my steps through the store looking for a lost shoe. Time to try on clothes without someone announcing that they have to go potty. Just time.
And the great thing about Target is that you can find sanity on almost every aisle. Most of the time, even if you don’t buy anything, you get to leave with a bag full of sanity. All you have to do is browse a little while, & before you know it, you’re actually ready to go home.
Now that my kids are getting a little older, I don’t run out of sanity quite as often as I used to. Every once in a while, I use up my supply & have to make an emergency run again. And if I’m really running low, I go to Target AND Hobby Lobby. They have good deals on sanity there, too.
So where do you buy your sanity?{If you haven’t yet entered to win the giveaway from my shop, click here!}
