My Faux White Stoneware Collection
Was it Martha that first started the trend of collecting white stoneware & displaying it together? I’m not sure, but whoever it was really started something & now everyone seems to be doing it. I’ve been keeping my eyes open at thrift stores for some for a while now, but haven’t really found much. I guess someone keeps beating me to it. Ever since I saw this page in a recent Pottery Barn catalog, I’ve had plans to copy it in a unique spot in my house.
Notice that collection on the high window ledge? I love it!
And we happen to have a transom opening above our laundry room door that is supposed to have stained glass in it. Only that was one of those decisions that just got pushed to the back burner as we were finishing construction, and it hasn’t happened yet. Then this picture gave me the idea to display a white stoneware collection up there. If only I had one.
Like so many of you domestic divas, if I can’t find it, I try to create it. So, I went with the spray painting glass method I’ve seen on a few blogs lately. I started with some plain ol’ glass vases from Goodwill in various shapes. Here is my high-tech spray booth that I set up in my yard.
My son said it resembled an indian burial ground. All I know is that it was a great set up for spray painting. One can of semi-gloss white Krylon & about an hour later, I had my faux collection. No, it’s not perfect, but no one I know is tall enough to get close to it, so I think it’ll work for now.

I agree with all of the above. Your home looks beautiful and your project looks like the real (pottery barn) thing. ๐
Can I ask what shade of yellow you've used in your room? My main floor is all yellow but I'm thinking of changing it to a slightly more buttery shade. If that makes sense?
